He was a highly talented player but didn't do justice to his supreme talent, had he been more focused on his game he would have achieved a lot more. A great talent wasted.

Ironical thing is his Test batting average is 37 which do not justifies his talent

After Wasim Raja....he is the second Pakistani batsman who performed remarkably well on Australian bouncy pitches.

robelinda2, what went wrong that Ijaz Ahmed & Saleem Malik didn't play for pak team after 2001 like Inzamam-ul-Haq, please let me know.

i think Saleem Malik was too old to continue anyways . And Ijaz's perfomance was going down after 1999 . But im sure some politics was also involved after the Justice Qayyum report. With Pakistan Cricket you can never rule out politics and favoritism . Either way , Ijaz was a treat to watch in his prime days . I still remember his double hundred against Srilanka . He was faster than Inzimam.
