Firing up a 1918 model Titan 10-20. The Titan represented one of the first examples of how tractors of the future would be laid out and was one of the first "small" tractors to successfully go into mass production. Born in 1915 during the bloodiest years of the First World War, the Titan was marketed to a farming industry badly depleted of labor due to wartime manpower needs. Over 78,000 of these machines were produced at International Harvester's Milwaukee works over six model years. The engine is a simplified twin cylinder, vertical, kerosene fueled, liquid cooled 531ci (8.7L) engine rated at 20hp at it's governed speed of 580rpm. Simple accessories were offered such as the plow guide seen on this model. Central Alberta Antique and Model Club, Leslieville, Alberta.

Hello, what does T.V. 12781 refer to? I spotted another Titan online that has TV 18609 painted on it. Thank you.

Ah yes, this is the tractors serial number, oddly enough it was painted onto the frame.
Hello, if the engine kicked, in the position you are cranking could you get an injury, or was the design taking into account that occurrence?

Yes the spark is set into a a position well after top dead centre so any ignition will only fire the engine forward. The spark is then advanced once the engine is running.👌
Are the disc's up front some kind of steer assist device to keep it in furrow during plowing?

Yes, those are plow guides, just as you say.

I have heard of some people using them back then so they could run two tractors with one operator. The driver would set the plow guided tractor down the furrow on its own and follow with a second plow tractor.

Good question, i am not actually sure but the easiest way to find it would be to trace the lines coming out of the fuel mixer atop the engine- this will lead you to the tank.
