For example Nahida's art intro way back in 3.2 included a quote from Neuvillette. Xbalanque's name first appeared in Neuvillette's art teaser. They talk about the dragons. Coincidentally in real world mythology Xbalanque along with his twin Hunahpu were known as the sun and moon twins, who died in fire and were reborn from the ashes to kill the gods of Xibalba the underworld. So many genshin lore nerds speculate that they are a significant character in Natlan's story.

The whole tournament thing reminded me of that Aztec ball game. Where the team who lost was executed. You remember the line from the Genshin story teaser? The victors will burn bright, and the losers will be turned to ash? Maybe there is a reason most character pass the ball, and don't want to partake in the tournament. Considering the Pyro archons line at the end. Whit our blood we will forge our own fate. Someone will lose that tournament, and that someone will die.

Yeah I think it’s based of ōllamalitzli, because it has been used as “ritual war” both historically and in modern day for people of the Nahua tribes : ) Also, pre-colonization, the Aztecs killed the losers of the game. (now we don’t ofc)

I find it interesting that the teaser for Natlan has a short moment where everything has lost its colour as it's burning away, much like how Ashikai theorized in the video about Nilou

I'm glad someone thought the same thing I did. After rewatching the previous Natlan trailers, I found that the first trailer involves three of the six Saurion symbols lighting up with color after a small spark in the middle. This trailer has a flame with six symbolized flames floating around it. Just more reasons to keep our eyes peeled during this summer event!

Yeah, all of this 'brightness' is screaming red herring for me. I am ready for things to get pretty brutal here. Like heck, next year we'll FINALLY be going to Snezhnaya, and things have REALLY been picking up. There has to be a story reason why Natlan is this far out lol. I do hope we learn more about Murata here too like we did with both Egeria and uhhh, Rukkadevata (sp?), in the last 2 regions in the archon quest.

Imagine Hoyo decided to come completely out of left field and Capitano will be the first hydro claymore user.

@@the.kensei_547If I’m not mistaken, the only reaction dendro has without hydro is quicken. Every other involves hydro. On top of that, hydro is a go to for most of the pyro carries, also for freeze Ayaya/Ganyu and also for taser teams. Hydro is as strong as dendro but more versatile. So it’s a best element (in my opinion). Edit: I’m mistaken, dendro has burning too. But before Emilie this was kinda cope.

I dare you to tell me one thing that indicates that Inazuma is a nation of eternity, or Liyue a nation of cotracts. They were always treating those things as secondary, when designing visuals for nations.

‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ The tournament is probably based on the ancient Mesoamerican ballgame, though with some tweaks. In that game, you couldn’t touch the ball with your hands. It was part of religious celebrations and used to settle disputes over LAND, tributes, and trade, reflecting the constant WARS in Natlan. Originally, before adding the rings, the rules were simple: keep the ball in play, because if it fell, it was bad luck since the ball represented the SUNNNN. Its movement symbolized the paths of the sun, the MOON 🌕, and Venus. The winner was blessed and protected by the gods. It’s very interesting that Natlan, being the nation of fire and war, settles its disputes and problems with an ancient game like tlachtli.

Been saying that Natlan war is Sports for a while now. Just a thing before anything happens: Iansan is Bennet sister. Similar appearance, and the way she entered the tournament is because the ball hit her head by complete accident.

But honestly while there is grandeur in the fact that it's technologically advanced the region when you aren't looking at the underwater parts look eerie at times. Maybe it comes from the more mechanical aspects to it.

Yeah and I've also seen comments from people (who's culture Natlan is supposed to represent) saying that they appreciate that they're not being depicted as just warmongers. That there are layers and depth to the culture, which I completely understand. Also in the teaser for Fontaine we didn't really see much of the "justice" part of the region, so I'm sure we'll se more of the "war" side in Natlan.

I'm guessing that the Redhead isn't the archon. I think she is a literal phoenix. My guess is that the pyro archon never actually got replaced after their death but reviving them will be a major part of the archon quest. As for the lack of diversity, I never really expected much. As screwed up as it is, darker toned characters don't sell as well in Hoyoverse's largest market and they know that the global market will spend regardless. It is all about money. I do think that the company could get around those lower sales numbers if they really tried but that doesn't seem likely at this point. Interestingly, other than the Himeko lookalike, no one else in the trailer seems to be pyro (Iansan, Capitano and the guy shown briefly next to him are the only ones without obvious elements in the trailer). Also, Bloodborne Elf lady is probably my favorite design of the bunch personally.

I believe they didn't show Natlan's 'war' aspect because teasers like these are (assumption) sort of marketing material for the upcoming region. Like, as soon as this trailer dropped many unfamiliar faces started making reaction videos to it. Which obviously translates to exposure. (Same happened with Overture Teaser) Now, back in the Overture teaser, they didn't show Fontaine's 'justice' aspect that much either. Like, there was just a 10 second court scene at the end (And we all know how brutal the Fontaine AQ was). Rest assured, Natlan will definitely have one heck of an Archon Quest. I understand you wanted to see the 'war' aspect of Natlan, (ngl I did too). But I understand why they did it

What are you talking about? Whole this teaser was about «war». If you somehow don't get it then let me explain -- the «war» in Natlan is basically a grand tournament with different tribes represents different teams that compete with each other in that big arena. And the characters are not «warriors», they are more like athletes. I assume you watched teaser without sound and subtitles if you don't understand all of this.

I think ever since the trailer for signora's funeral no one but Il Capitano has worn those Fatui coats again.

I am expecting blood sports to be common in Natlan, (possibly) Murata’s words about forging fate through blood and the champion taking it all makes me think that Natlan has some way to change fate through war (games), blood and victory. Even if on a smaller scale, I wouldn’t be surprised by something like a Fate Holy Grail War at all. Minus the summoned Servants (unless you count us summoning characters) of course. I wonder if Natlan is going to finally expand on what’s truly going on with the fixation Teyvat has with Fate or if we’ll be left hanging once again until Snezhnaya. Which is *very* soon, and as a Day 1 player that is very exciting to realise.

ik some dont like the way natlan looks, i personally thought it would be a bit darker too, but considering it is based on mayan tribes, i really love the colours, graffiti, feathers and so on. the land with canyon - looking walls and forests look amazing too. I think that maybe Mavuica as the goddess of war is more a goddess of competition, and the war is more symbolic, so she organizes a lot of sport games, tournaments... but the lines about "the loosers will be turned to ash" "forge our fate blood" means some s*** will go down, and maybe like always first act will be chill, and then Capitano joins the tournament and destroys everything. afterall, usually there are 2 harbingers in one region, so we still dont know who will it be and what they gonna do
