    +Mike Provencher II It's the definitely the best speech about it. Mike expresses passion and he's able to convey that emotion into his words perfectly.

    It's amazing how deathly silent the crowd gets as soon as he mentions the word "fake", especially when you consider how much they were cheering and whistling throughout the first half of the video.

    Beautifully put. I spent most of my dissertation arguing that pro wrestling deserves arts funding, and belongs in gallery spaces as much as it does in sports arenas. Pro Wrestling is one of the purest and most approachable forms of non-verbal storytelling, which is why it translate so well across the globe. I really think we're only just starting to scratch the surface of what the art form can achieve, which is why it's always important to keep experimenting and pushing the boundaries of what grown-up play-fighting in tiny pants can be. I think it was while watching Lance Steel vs Lance Steel that I had that revelation, so I should probably thank Quack for my Fine Art degree!

    Not to mention that in pro-wrestling, the villains can usually have equal opportunity to come out on top, depending on the promotion. That's what originally got me hooked on it.

    Exactly. With everything else, it's almost certain that the hero will always triumph and defeat the villain but in pro wrestling, it's just as likely that evil will win and that makes it a far more engaging story than almost any other.

    +Raab Savage There's no way any other blockbuster form of entertainment would end the way Wrestlemania 31 ended. The sneaky, weasel-y bad guy runs in, destroys the smiling superhero and the unconquerable beast, and wins the ultimate prize? That would NEVER sell in Hollywood, and if it were a novel, people would complain about the terrible ending. It's brilliant.

    Wrestling is also a lot more impressive than any movie or TV Show because the acting and the matches are done LIVE so well that it makes some people even assume that it might be an actual athletic competition.

    Turning the pancake over, now that wrestling has come clean about being a performance, the fans have also changed. When once they cheered and booed like at an actual sporting event, they now laugh at the things they used to cheer and boo. Just compare the fans from the 80's on back to the way they are now. They don't take it serious at all.

  • @Retrorevelations

    @Retrorevelations

    Yes, that was evident in Chikara itself, when, in say 2014 or 2016, when they'd try to have a dark, serious moment, when the big bad of the time would "kill" one of the heroes, and instead of being hushed and mortified, some "smart mark" fans in the crowd would still want to joke around and yell out obnoxious comments, kinda ruining the spirit of the moment. Everything Mike said IS true about wrestling being an art. But it'd be nice if fans would go ALONG with that art more these days. It's incredible to me that an entire crowd could play along when Darin Corben "slowed down time", and the wrestlers, the ref, the announcers, even the fans were playing along, acting like they were all in slow motion. But they can't take a character's violent "death" at the hands of a despicable monster villain even SOMEWHAT seriously?

    Yes, i wouldn't understand the subject Mike is talking about at all considering i've been of fan of wrestling almost all my life. Mike isn't saying anything new in the video, i've heard the same speech before and will do again. However, saying it during what amounts to be just Show & Tell for adults is so cringeworthy and tryhardy that my lips roll back so far into my gums that i now need surgery to fix the issue.

    BadNews Kelly Leak: The problem isn't what he says to liberals. He's going after seemingly every ethnic group or religion out there. He's feuding with the Pope, and I don't know who he's supposed to lure to his side by doing so. His starting his campaign by trashing Mexicans led to the infamous Neo-Nazi/Klansman David Duke and 8 other major players in the White Nationalist movement announcing their support for him. As the saying goes, "You lie down with dogs, you wake up with fleas." The problem is that he's a racist, misogynist jerk who can't be bothered to give any real details, since he seems to think that yelling at people and saying, "It's gonna be great" is enough. Never mind that the people who support him and turn out for his speeches/rallies are the kind of people Trump would NEVER associate with if he wasn't running for President. Forget politics, he's a total fraud and disgrace all around. He's come to my hometown of Tampa to host these seminars about how to get rich. Presumably, the fact that he was given money by his parents and inherited a lot of money from them goes unmentioned, since not everybody has that option. I can't help but think of the last words Johnny Rotten spoke on stage at the final concert of the Sex Pistols disastrous American tour on January 14, 1978 at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, CA: -"Ah-ha-ha. Ever get the feeling you've been cheated? Good night."

    Jason Kreitzer Hillary is a habitual LIAR and bought and paid for by foreign governments not friendly to the US and Bernie is a communist. Trump is better than both of them period. Plus illegal aliens (what ever nationality they are) don;t belong here and need to go. It's that simple. Trump tells it like it is, PC or not and if the corrupt lying race baiting anti-police liberal leftist socialist in the main stream media hate him then that is the NUMBER #1 reason to vote for him!
