the only thing i dont like is how im basicaly forced to play the version with enchanced graphics...it would have been nice if it was like borderlands where you get both the normal version and the one with enchanced graphics

Morrowind at least has an interesting world and NPC interactions. Some MMOs may have bad combat, but their main driving force is multiplayer. Skyrim has nothing going for it.

***** The beautiful world full of gray fog and muted greens and browns? The interesting people that I can do errands for, and not actually have complex interactions with? So there are "cool" sidequests, where I can go from point a to point b? The devs don't trust players enough to listen to or read directions, so they hold their hand along the way. Great, I can now follow a point on a map. Some of the dungeons may be "cool", but they are few and far between. Most of them are stone or dirt hallways with insultingly simple puzzles. I have never encountered anything extremely notable in the bandit camps. What could they really add to the game. This is about quality, and not quantity. What differentiates "awesome" weapons so much, and why would those matter in the overall game? Are there drastically different moves or unique abilities that will matter in the simple combat? I could listen to the soundtrack on its own. Does it help set the mood for specific situations well, or does it just sound nice alongside gameplay? You fight dragons from the start of game. You are the undoubted hero from the start of the game. Dragons are never a big threat. They scale with you, and serve give you a small power rush, and fit with the theme. You never feel that you grow into defeating them, you just hit the trigger button until they fall over, almost every time. Eventually they just become an annoyance. So yeah, there's a whole lot of stuff there, a whole lot of nothing.

I really enjoyed the Witcher 3 and sure, it's one of the best games of all time, but when I played Skyrim again... the nostalgia that this game has for me... I realised Skyrim has something that the Witcher 3 didn't gave me. The first time you play Skyrim you get that feeling, lol I don't know how to explain but I'm sure most of you guys had it. Skyrim -> Witcher 3. I know you can't compare and I say both games are masterpieces. But Skyrim remains my number 1 of those two games.

***** MGS 5 is a great game but it has just enough flaws to not earn a perfect score, the also said Skyrim lacked in the story department. Everyone who has played any Metal Gear game has to agree that the story is all over the place.

Actually listening to someone listing everything brilliant about Skyrim made me realise just how ridiculously good this game is.

Fallout 4 lacked content in my opinion, there is a lot don't get me wrong but I finished all main and side quests wayyyyy too fast. I was amazed when I had a lot of quests but as soon as I ran out I was disappointed that it ended so fast, I had about 120 hrs on it though so money well spent

MoAbExpert1133 i was the same, i finished fallout 4 and got the platinum trophy (in a ps4 trophy race with a friend). took about 4 playthroughs to get them all but still would of liked it to take under a month. Obviously didn't 100% the game in a week, feel like im pretty much done with everything now though

TheSatanistGamer I agree, story was pretty underwhelming Bugs and glitches are a problem, but Elder Scrolls games wouldn't be Elder Scrolls games without em. The combat is realistic. No auto-aiming, no weird special swings that include somersaults and other weird unnecessary animation bullshit. Swing your weapon, block, shield bash, shoot an arrow, cast a spell, move around. That's what combat is. Other games seem to make it so flashy like some weird anime bullshit, and it just loses its flavor. The way it is in Elder Scrolls, you can tell a truly epic battle from a regular one. In other games, you kill a rabbit the same way you slay a giant beast - giant flashy exaggerated animations and effects. As for art style, it's hardly "generic." It's realistic. It's not stylized if that's what you mean. That's hardly a con, unless you prefer the more anime-looking cartoonish art styles.

PurpleDerpy Yes, but realistic doesn't necessarily make it better. The combat suffers because of it. Not that it's bad, but it's just barebones. Dragon's Dogma for instance has great combat, lots of different combos for each type of weapon, creating variety, so that the game doesn't get monotonous since combat will be thing you'll be doing for at least 60% of the game. Also, yes, you DO fight rabbits the same way you fight dragons. Wale on them with your weapon or magic until they die. I guess I didn't phrase the statement well, but I meant the look of the creatures, armor and world have been done million times before in a million different fantasy games. Again, realistic doesn't necessarily make it better.

TheSatanistGamer True, realistic doesn't always mean better. But when forging fantasy, ESPECIALLY in an rpg setting, you want things to be believable. Otherwise it turns into an gamey experience. How can I get attached to characters and story if the gameplay is completely unbelievable? Yeah, Anime-Hair Johnson is a really cool guy with a dark past so he stopped a massive fireball explosion with his nipples or something with no explanation as to how. He's unstoppable. Nothing can kill him. Zzzzzzzzz... and that's the kind of stuff you get out of games like Final Fantasy or

So...I guess dragons and trolls became realistic without me noticing. Who knew? No, but seriously, just because a game is 'unrealistic' doesn't mean that characters or setting can't be unrelatable or compelling. Quite a few (definately not all) animes are able to be relatable AND compelling without having to be 'realistic'. Also, this IS a video game, so why not take advantage of it and have a little fun? Honestly though I still do REALLY like the game, I just found the art style as being something done time and time again. LOTR, KOA:R, all these have the same generic elves and orcs and dragons. Well, to be honest, I have been gaming for quite some time. So maybe it's just getting old for me personally. Something like Dark Souls has very creative and diverse creature and environment design, but still retaining that fantasy feeling at the same time. If DS could do that, why couldn't elder scrolls. Well, feel free to reply and enjoy your game because i will too

Bethesda really nailed the feel of the open world of Skyrim in ways that still haven't really been replicated, even 7 years later. It feels so lived in and alive, even more than other great open world games like GTA 5 and the Witcher 3, it's hard to pinpoint exactly what I'm saying but if you've played skrim you would know. Every single NPC you come across in every village and city will always have a unique name and occupation , much of the time they will have a backstory that you can unearth by talking to them even if they're not tied to any quest, that coupled with the rich lore of the elder scrolls universe and the huge amount of areas richly detailed like caves that also usually have there own interesting story that you can discover, this makes a game that is extremely interesting to go through and just explore, its the most organic single player games I've ever seen other than the Witcher 3, and I loved the Witcher 3 as much as the next person, but it also didn't really replicate Skyrim in this regard. The reviewer really hit the nail on the head when he said that the world feels like its been around long before the player arrives, and will continue to exist long after the player leaves. The game really is quite a creative achievement and definitely is one of the best games ever made, and hopefully, the best parts about Skyrim will be something Bethesda will be able to replicate in future elder scrolls games, whenever those come out.

@@sweeners8950 no it doesn't. It means that the game is legendary and it hits the bullseye dead center. It's not perfect because nothing is. But Skyrim is the benchmark for legendary games. Games that multiple people spend thousands of hours on. Skyrim deserves a 10/10. Oh and by the way the glitches do not kill this game.

Ha the people saying skyrim is 'terrible' because of the flaws in it. No game has ever even approached the level of immersion and depth or world creation as skyrim. Perhaps there are frustrating aspects; but to claim outright that it is a terrible game is just idiotic. Perhaps i'm a fan boy, but if skyrim is terrible, i'd be interested to hear what they would call aliens colonial marines or lococycle. Idiots crowd the gaming landscape, buying angry birds for 60$ on next gen consoles. The amount of love and sheer man hours that went into skyrim are worthy of respect, something it seems many are too foolish to realize. Fus.

I am honestly quite disappointed with the combat system. Yes, nearly every aspect of the game is basically perfect except the minor glitches, but after playing other rpg games like assassin's creed, the witcher, and most of all dark souls, coming back to try combat in skyrim feels boring, repetitive, and even unsatisfactory.

Its THE best game of 2011, and one of THE best games ever.

Bruce Marlon Actually it doesn't make him young for saying his own opinion. And you can't say that Skyrim wasn't one of the best games when it came out. Most games are just remakes of other games, but Skyrim has a original feel to it, that what makes it a great game.

I'm just trying to say that Skyrim is a fun game, I entertained me for 70 hours, most games I play barely reach 50, because how dull they get quickly. I would have rated this game 8.5. What would you have rated this game?

5 years have gone past and Skyrim is still the best game I have ever have the privilage to play. I want the next Elder Scrolls game to be very similar

Guess it only didn't make to 10 because of the amount of bugs. The game is AMAZING, but it had a few bugs that really pissed me out during gameplay... Of course that happened close to its release date, hopefully there's been patches/updates for most of those, I'm not sure though.

Guys i've had skyrim since it came out back in november 2011 and i'm still finding things relatively fun to do. What does that tell you all? Lol, I've never bothered to get all the dragon priest masks until now. Getting most of the words of power and visiting all the dragon lairs. It's also pretty fun trying out the different races, discovering new locations and doing quests, even for a second or third time for unique items

Bugs. Lots. Of f**king. Bugs. I had to skip whole quests, because some glitch wouldn't let me progress further into the story, main or not. If it was as bugless as Oblivion, it would've been a 10. I would rate it a 9.5 though, just because of that glitch galore going on.

There will never be another game that I wish I could experience for the first time again more than Skyrim. The first time I saw the dragon burn down Helgen, after I escaped out of that cave, and when I was released out into that vast world filled with unexplored, unknown content. It was such an amazing experience that I wish I could get back again. Can’t wait until what Bethesda comes up with to top this game.

I never saw the appeal to the game because I don't really like the whole fantasy theme, I prefer Fallout's theme. I bought the game and all the DLC's for 20 bucks on Xbox, part of the deals with gold. It was cheap so I thought I would try it out... I regret buying the game because I am HOOKED! A few bugs here and there, but damn there's so much to do. I'm actually overwhelmed by it, I finish a quest and end up activating 10 more quests.

I have played this game for tons and tons of hours... I love it just as much as when I started. The game is so well put together and is about as beautiful as any epic LOTR movie made. I love that no matter how much I play it, it never ever gets old. LOVE IT!!! Wish I could find more game like this as I would love to change around a little to break the monotony. No other game is nearly as awesome…

Thing about this game is that I always fail to fully or even get close to describing it to anyone coz I'll always leave so many amazing details. All I can say is that it's an incredible and a very unique gaming experience unlike no other. By far the best game there ever was!

I still have my receipt for this game. I bought it from GameStop on 11/15/11. Cost me 62.99. It was the first Elder Scrolls I played. It felt like a combo of GTA and Final Fantasy. No doubt one of the best games I ever played.

Pfffft, it's easily a 10/10 game, best RPG ever made, hands down

if they could make nexus work on next gen consoles, this game could become a true next gen experience.

Can someone help? I'm on the mission where you have to collect information about the dragons, just after the party. I have to get info from this chest, I'm level 6 but I keep getting completely destroyed over and over again by the wizard guy. Do I HAVE to do side missions to level up or is there a specific way to do this? I'm struggling to get into Skyrim and I'm finding myself playing other games over t when I can see the appeal. Please help because I really want to have fun with skyrim but I can't because I fell confused and overwhelmed by everything.
