Old Nollywood movies were mostly comedies meant only for African viewers...Old movies were great and I still enjoy them from time to time, but some of our legendary actors and actresses died very poor..Those movies were great but didn't generate enough money for the actors and actresses..Current generation of Nollywood writers, directors, and producers had to some changes in order to attract global audience..As you may have seen, Netflix has flooded its streaming platforms with Nollywood movies and that's because the current Nollywood movies have global appeal..It's a smart business decisions in terms of financial gains and so far it has been a success..It's paying off...

When Nollywood was Nollywood, but you must understand that those movies were produced for African viewers..Current Nollywood movies have global appeal and that's why Netflix has flooded its streaming platforms with Nollywood movies...And Amazon recently signed a deal with Nollywood..Negotiations are currently ongoing with peacock and soon other streaming platforms will join the rest..As you may have noticed, some of those legendary actors died poor and it's sad..The current generation of Nollywood movie writers, directors, producers had to make some changes in their movies so as to attract global audience and make money at the same time..It's a smart business decision and so far it is working out for them...

It's all about money in the end..And because of the hatred most African countries have for Nigeria, not all African countries embraced Nollywood..So, limiting the movies to African audience has no financial rewards..
