Nzube's videos are amazing. It doesn't get any better. I highly recommend her videos on Igbo proverbs. Even if you don't aim for fluency, there is a lot to learn. I think the application of proverbs is among the most valuable aspects of Igbo culture. They are funny and at the same time, laden with instruction. Actually, Igbo is more than an ethnic nationality or language. It is a worldview. Igbo proverbs are supposed to serve as a compass to navigate life.

@IGBOTIC GIRL Chukwu Daalu! You deserve all the support. You are adding value to lives and serving as a role model to youth as well as adults. If you persist, you might be shocked at what God will make of your seed. I am working on a book about Igbo origin, and I have learned so much in the process. I am not coming from the angle of ethnic pride or racial superiority of any kind. It is merely the discovery of a rich heritage whose foundations are able to help us attain self-actualization. I believe that thorough examination of our past and rediscovering our language will rekindle creativity and higher purpose in our mindset that has been eroded by colonial education. I am not condemming the colonial masters necessarily - in many cases, they meant well. The problem was that our relative underdevelopment at the dispensation of our contact caused them to view us with condescension and devalue the totality of our culture. Through our language, I have discovered that Igbos and indeed Africans stand shoulder-to-shoulder with every other race when it comes to civilization. Igbo is a dynamic medium of expression that enables the speaker to articulate himself in the most precise fashion. It is also a set of building blocks that can be used to construct words as the world evolves and circumstances arise. I will save the rest for when I publish my book.

I grew up listening to this language. I am 15 and my mother took me to the U.S where I learned and adopted English as my first language. I want to speak my native tongue so bad. I don't know why I have the sudden urge to do so and so badly though. All my life I have been fine with piecing together conversations my family would have in half igbo half english, but now I REEEALLY want to be apart of it! It's even more strange because of late, I have working on my Korean and Japanese. So it's very "out of nowhere" for lack of better description. I have a fully American accent with a slight English one together, but so far, my announciation seems to be okay😂 I hope my grandmother will be pleased with the little that I know☺

I don't know why igbo parents do this. My dad said the same thing. So that we won't get confused. Now, who is confused? A grown ass woman that can't speak her language and is a laughing stock to her people. it's really pathetic.

Cool Cool, it would be supercool, if I'll learn Igbo! I'm living in Germany (born & grew up there). But I'm of Turkish origin. Nearly every Nigerian I've met or make friends with were Igbo. The 2nd largest group have been Ogoni. I'm gonna blow their mind when I'm able to talk in their language to them…

Aww Ngozi, I’m here to see that it happens for you! Good thing you can hear igbo, so that’s one down one to go! Speaking is about constant practice. speak it even if you aren’t confident or even if people laugh. Keep at it . Engage in igbo with your mum. Sometimes do one day of compulsory igbo speaking and anyone that losses does the dishes or chores lol, just to push you to learn by fire by force 😂😂 you feel me ??
