This new format for the finals is horrible!!! Having 2 climbers out at the same takes all the drama out of it. Cameras cannot cover both. Example: We missed Brooke executing the crux move on Boulder 2. Replays are not the same. I hope they ditch this format next year.

I agree and if they want to keep this format then if there are two climbers on the wall use the split screen at all times.

Yeah, also I wonder if this not an advantage for the later climbers who can see in their perifery how the next climber does the boulder and maybe happen to see a key technique they won't have to figure out or could be a disadvantage because it's also distracting

It used to be this format before, around 2016/2017 but they changed it because people hated it, not sure why they bought it back

Why is there always so annoying music on the background of events? Is it to delibaretly distract athletes?

Time will tell us if she's better than Janja. For awhile it like Seo was but she hasn't held up over time. Janja has. It's a shame the Japanese have not allowed Ai to compete in every lead comp. It takes a lot of stamina, physical & mental, to compete over 7 comps. Also how do you perform when the pressure is greatest. Janja has proved herself in this way repeatedly. Look at the Olmpics. She's still the greatest until or if time proves otherwise.

Miho Nonaka is so pretty

I didn't think I would say this before many years, but a young 40 kg Japanese girl is now better than Janja on lead climbing !!! Her technique and her route choices are just amazing. As of today, Janja should still be the favorite for the Paris Olympics because of Bouldering where she still is the queen, though Natalia is getting close. In any case, the coming years will be exciting 😊

Well, actually Janja is a fading star, also to add, I noticed that she is very arrogant toward others when she is loosing… anyway, wishing her all the best but there are so many others climbers who are a way better than she is so I hope that she will finally vanish soon and we will see others who are way more talented than her.

hard to stand the music

I thought boulder format was AI's weakness but it seems that other places boulder route was just too inconsiderate for shorter people. Still AI is an inspiration for short people and strength!

Interesting how C. Seo from Korea did not get 72.1 even though she touched the next hold at 1:47:56, Natalia on the other hand gets 72.1 for not even grazing the next hold at 2:08:40. 🤔

@@hanishsutariafr8852 My point was that Seo touched the hold at least whereas Natalia did not. I get it that it has to be the hold that route setters planned as the next move but there are different kinds of climbers both physically and by their climbing style. We have seen a lot of beta breaks in competitions now to know that.

I'm having to watch this with the sound off. Such a shame a DJ thinks their poor taste in music is more important than the sport.

I hope this is not the new normal. This new format sucks. Can’t watch the climbers. Why in the world does climbing have to combine their individual disciplines? Bolder, Lead, Speed are different events. All should have their own metals in the Olympics. We need change!

she’s said before that she prefers training to the competitions, i wonder if she only competes in order to be able to climb full time? And if that’s why she doesn’t look as happy as the other here? She seems very shy too, maybe she just finds the whole thing overwhelming.

Ai acts this way in other settings too. I think shes just not a very smily person and she seems pretty shy as well

First seconds of the music is just awfull

Terrible new format. Missed Miho flashing a blounder That was giving all climbers a problem and left watch Mia in a boring boulder. No real highlight of the run just a clip of Miho doing the crux. New scoring system is pointless as it's hard to tell whose done more routes than others. Even split screen would have been better than this and split screen is awful.

Worst music ever, like it better even when it was in china and there was no music not even cheers.

Quite a lot of pro climbers do climb on actual rocks actually! The reason they dont do them for comps is for hygiene and safety. Sharp and jagged rocks are way more dangerous than these ones, so it wouldn’t be very fun for the athlete to be climbing and fall, then getting a huge injury because of the rocks

i will try to find a way to sex-filter youtube. after seeing and hearing serena williams being afraid of roger federer i know all i need to know about "gender equality" and the weird feeling in my stomach connected all my personal life experiences. lol
