The type J rods are incredible. Paul, I run a B605 with a Diawa LEXA-WN 300H real. This is my bait casting set up and goto for nearly everything. As an FNQ local I use it for Barra, Trout and Jack's. Fishing the toughest country, land based oyster and coral rock leadges. Nothing else feels close. Looks small, but has the guts. Try one as as lure chucker. You won't go back to anything else.

Thanks Jared, I love the west mate! There is just so much to explore and so little time to do it!

I used to live in Geraldton. HUGE mullaway fish caught right off the wharf. I found the fish didn't taste that good, but great fun fishing.

Yes, those particular fish are found in many places around the world so I'm sure they have a few different names - great fish to catch! Fight bloody hard!

In the Northwest of WA a lot of us just call it a Nor-West snapper, AKA Spangled Emperor
