i agree! with the absolutely crazy uproar of y2k and cyber life, being able to make things like this is so so useful
I very rarely comment - but omg thank you for this amazing video!! These techniques can feel quite overwhelming very quickly as a beginner, but you explain everything so succinctly, and combined with the gentle music and voice over it is so calming!!! Very grateful for your work 🙏🏼
I believe the colour management issue is due to the fact that "Filmic Log" is designed to capture a broader range of light, for the sake of more freedom when applying a colour grade externally, it's basically a feature that ties back to the use real life cameras to differently interpret light etc. (Correct me if I'm wrong aha)
Video was not only informative but also very relaxing. my perfect pace. hopefully the algorithm shows your amazing content to more people!

Brother, your workflow is amazing. I learned a lot, thank you. Just some info on the colour space: Using filmic/filmic log allows for more realistic colours that have more depth to be used in post processing. sRGB isn't accurate to real life colours in many scenarios, blender guru has a video on realism and colour spaces for more info. sRGB can pass for certain images but for larger environments using filmic can be beneficial. It allows for more flexibility later on but yes, it takes more work.

I've modeled and sold 3D character assets for the last 16 years, primarily in Second Life. I've slowly begun the transition to other metaverses. I expect trying to move this to real life will amount to a retailer's manufacturing/customer service nightmare because of how many different faces and how much variation of bone structure exists in nature. In Second Life, for example, there are about two dozen most popularly purchased head shapes and facial configurations. Even with this little variation, it's necessary to model unique assets for each head shape individually with nearly no overlap at all. This business idea only has a chance with custom-made products and what it ultimately means is that a customer is going to have to submit a 3D rendering of their head for an artist to model on. Using the full-face jewelry example, mass production is not at all a reasonable undertaking. I know licensable software like Face Builder exists, and for some, it may be worth a try. I'm looking at this from a customer service perspective. These will need to be a near-perfect fit. The commercially available tech isn't quite there yet.

Amazing tutorial! Just one question: if we are using the 3D model of the person as just a shadow catcher, why does it need to be textured? Is it just so that the donut shape at the end looks correct in it's refractions?
@nenghuo
Жыл бұрын
yes, its for refractions, and transparent and even diffusion, if you don't really care about all this you can skip this step. In some case it will not make much difference.

As it goes for the color it is a bit messy. If you have set it to filmic everything inside blender will have filmic look. So when you imporeted the image in compositor it gave it an filmic look. If you wanted the image to be standard and mask filmic you would have to save the mask in filmic and and than import it seperatly and set the color space to standard. Than you can still uyse AO and shadow catcher masks

Glad you like it, if you can share this video that will really help the channel.🖤 I believe so, if that is what you want just don't click the ”shadow“ on 21:50, but you might have to erase some of the extra shadow in Photoshop, so the shadow from 3-D model will not overlap on the shadow from the picture .

@nenghuo
Жыл бұрын
To answer “ Is that okay? ”, it's all depend on you you can just models it to be good enough and do the rest of step and see the results it's that good enough for you, if not, go back sculpt it more. you don't have to sculpt it perfectly to get a good result. there is no " correctly" in this .
