+produccionesquino This is so weird because it seems like Toby has thought of just about everything else. I guess it was just too difficult to force the story to go on without forcing the player to go downstairs. It does leave some questions as to what reasons Asgore would have for telling the human to continue without really knowing anything about them, though (or how he did it). I think it would have worked out better if when the player chooses to go back, Toriel will decide to come back as well. She could take pity on the fact that the human might want to return home, but also need to be reassured of the human's strength. It could even be a cycle where if the human would die, she will stop fighting and go back upstairs to heal the injured human (not that that would happen often at the first significant boss). She could have just loved the human too much to keep them away from home. The way that it is in the game makes it seem to much like "prof. Oak's words echoed... yada yada yada." That just leaves players confused and forced to make theories that most of which are probably not how the canon is supposed to be.

+slycoop1997 Actually, you DO learn why Asgore was urging the player on. SPOILER: It's because he wasn't. It was Chara's memory, when they were on their deathbed. Asgore was desperately pleading Chara to hold on and stay alive. You just happen to hear it in a different frame of context (or, perhaps, it was Chara playing the memory in your mind to keep you determined.)

Papyrus The Great If you're not being sarcastic: We know that you're not naming Frisk - you name the first Fallen Child. Whenever you die (or fall asleep, just like in the video) you hear Asgore calling out Chara (or however you called the Fallen Child) to not give up. The most relatable situation for Asgore to say to stay determined is when Chara got ill and started dying from eating buttercups - before Asriel took her outside.

xHematite Gemx Sans and Asgroe have different noises when they talk, Asgore sounds a lot deeper and Sans has this drone like quality. Compare the sound of the text scrolll on the standard game over screen and asgore when he speaks, then compare the text scroll on the dunked on gamer over screen

I head canon that the narrator of Undertale is Chara and they accompany you and whenever any dialogue happens it's just Chara having flashbacks. For example when you fall into the trash dump and Asriel is talking about helping you up.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised. The door is described as being too heavy for most monsters to even try to open, and as impossible unless you're able to walk through walls or tunnel underneath it. It's actually just a super door

+DVega261 What do you mean? You can choose between killing, pacifist or neutral. The game does want you to leave her house and progress through the game of course. I can't really imagine anyone buying the game and thinking, "I just wanna chill in the safety of Toriel's house and eat snails." lol :p

This dialogue is actually what Asgore said to Chara after he killed himself. I went to bed at this part too, but I still never though of it this way. Interesting!

Taniele Olivier Ik i'm saying that if you actually showed him mercy in the neutral run (Not toriel stopping him) he would kill himself either way. If you kill Flowey then reload and go back that segment Flowey wont appear when you spare asgore but he kills himself anyways.

i was like "WTF did you really stay down here this long!?!?!"

I felt absolutely horrible leaving Toriel because it was clear she'd had a kid before who probably died. It's even more heartbreaking to me now because she never answers when I try to call her.

But I want to stay with goat mom, Goat mom is best mom

It would be awesome if toby would later release a new patch of the game adding new stuff so it'd make it even more complex, like actually being able to live with toriel, further some easter eggs and explain more about the skeleton bros origins. He covered so much and made it so interesting first time and I'd gladly wait how much time is needed.

Imagine there was actually an option to stay with Toriel at the beginning - it would probably result in an early game over or maybe even its own Joke epilogue showing Frisk living happily with Toriel in the ruins, at bay from the rest of the monster world trying to kill him.

Now for somebody to name their character Link. "Link, please wake up! You are the future of humans and monsters." Dammit Navi!

In the game, you don't name yourself. You can name the FIRST fallen human. Like chara. If you don't know who chara is, chara is the first fallen human that climbed the mountain first. In the start of the game there is a backstory. So there was a mountain called mt.ebott, in 201X chara climbed the mountain for suicide. The humans was abusing chara, war started between the two races, monsters and humans, The humans were victorious and trapped the monsters underground. Once chara had fell, a goat/monster named Asriel came to help chara. Chara was brought home to his house. Mr.dreemurr aka King Asgore, Mrs.dreemurr aka Queen Toriel and their children asriel and chara, became one loving family. No, chara isn't evil, but one day asriel and chara were making a pie, they put buttercups in. When the king had the lie, he was poisoned. When Asgore got hurt ''ha...ha... I should have laughed it off like you did. . .haha.." No, it doesn't mean that chara enjoyed Asgore dying. There's an emotional way for laughing too. A while later. . . Chara ate buttercups and became very sick, chara was sent to safety to get taken care of. Asriel was filled with grief, he absorbed chara'a soul and carried chara up to the surface, the humans thought asriel killed chara so they attacked him. Asriel and chara died. Clara's grave was the golden flowers. The ones where frisk falls Down on. And asriel said body became soulless, he was a flower. He couldn't feel love or anything. He didn't mean to be like '' you idiot. '' now the year 2015, Ah yes, the year frisk fell down, frisk fell down and landed on chara's grave. Chara was awake by frisks determination, chara was the one who said the dialogue. Like: moldsmal attacks! You ate..Bleh. But in genocide..chara had to go with you..chara couldn't run away. Killing the ones chara loved made chara devastated. Chara even goes silent in the battles: ... But..don't think chara is bad. Chara was never the villain.

Idk if this has been said before, but I wonder if the lines Asgore said, during this and the game over, were all to Chara when they were dying. It’d kinda make sense because isn’t Frisk’s determination connected to Chara in a way? Especially after a genocide run

Wanna know how to truly stay with toriel? Once you arrive at toriels house, never tell toriel "How to exit the ruins" And exit the game, as if you were leaving in the pacifist run, so frisk can live with toriel, if that makes sense.
