Front view compass seems a royal pain. Only useful for holding a course at night. Great chance for error with cardinals.

I remember the E and W as "open" and "close", since the sun raises and sets there..

I had a problem once when there was no cardinal mark as there was land on that side. It confuses some as they are not sure if they were right about the direction showing on the other cardinal marks. Having the E = easter egg and W= wine glass is a great memory tool.
