If you never read Dante, you probably went to a government school.
If you never read Dante, you probably went to a government school. You received training, but not education.
Let me unpack that a bit.

The only one I read in public school was the Odyssey in 7th grade. While I didn't exactly appreciate it at the time, it was definitely memorable. Many adults like myself, who decided to homeschool their children, are learning right along with their kids by finally reading these classical books. I still have a long way to go myself! 😊

As Martin Cothran has said, "The best adult education program is homeschooling!"

@@romanroads I very much so agree!
I actually did a book report on the Divine Comedy while I was in a public high school. My choice of title was an extreme outlier from my peers.
Alas, I did go to a government school. But I am trying to remedy things in later life. I would give anything to have children, just so I could homeschool them. Edit: I always get Dante's "Divine Comedy" and Milton's, "Paradise Lost" mixed up. (I told you I went to government schools.) Is there one that would be better to read first? I don't mind long and/or difficult works.
ACE educated: 0 out of 5, but 4 out of 5 now! A lot of Christian education was (and still often is) just censored public education.
