not knowing a machine as much as it knows us is more dangerous than learning the machine and being up to par with it

There is no “making it.” There are different levels of doing.

This is first I'm finding out you had a youtube channel, been following from close to the start. This ended up being much less related to AI than I expected off jump. I definitely get what you're saying, though I think a lot of the fear comes less from a creative place and more from the fact that a lot of the employment to be had might go up in smoke. The point at 21:00 is the salient part to me re: that though. These companies have a vested interest in making it seem like AI music will be a drop-in replacement, and there are probably contexts where it will be. This messaging I think is what's flattening out "AI in Music" to "AI Music". But if my reaction to seeing AI art out in the world is anything to go off of, then I'm not really buying that. From a creative perspective even less so. Like if my ass is still untangling all the differences in like, brasilian funk for example, aint no way AI isn't going to mush that all together. I can see why it's demoralizing if you're earlier on in your learning process though, or work in the part of the industry that'll be heavily affected. Beyond all the AI stuff, 23:24 is the nugget to me. I sit on the DJ side of things, but the core of the creative has to come from yourself, otherwise the numbers and the algorithm will break you down.

beautifully said man. i’ve personally found more success after trying to mentally let go of this idea of “success” and enjoy the process itself. similar to walking meditation it’s about finding that conscious joy

passion has two roads insanity and expertise your understanding will decide which road to take. passion is tediously mixing a 12 stem rock song because its f**king boring rn or sitting in front of a piano and playing every key till you lock in each key tone and feel by brain memory. passion is being intrigued by even the most daunting and difficult parts of your craft because it brings fulfillment or enjoyment. its a passion ima mix and make music on my hospital bed with stage 4 w.e god willing not cuz it bring money or eyes its because it just intrigues me on a psychopathic level were most people will fall off ima stay lingering cuz of my passion which drives me to greatnes

Also, well said about your take on AI and music. I’ve always supported your use in the past because you really do use it in the most ideal way possible as a creative

You’re not gonna get “left behind” if you know how to make music. AI can be a tool at best and worse case will just be just doing all the work for some. But if you can still get on keys, drums, samplers, guitars, etc and CREATE there is NO GETTING LEFT BEHIND. AI is only trying to imitate what a human has already done
