If Venus Became a Moon of Earth

Ғылым және технология

Image at 2:17 is by Ron Miller, check out www.black-cat-studios.com/ for more space art.
NOTE: Temperature of Venus won't significantly change because it will be further, it's atmosphere is CO2, greenhouse gasses TRAP heat, so temperature will be down only by a few celsius. Earth would heat up because of tidal forces of Venus as well.

Venus, hottest planet in the solar system. With temperature and pressure unbearable, it is a hell world. So what if this similarly sized planet became a moon of Earth? Watch the video to find out.

    Oh hey, by the way, Venus being heated doesn't mess with earth's temperature, because heat doesn't make it through vacuum, perhaps it's atmosphere reflecting the Sun's radiation would make a little bit of a difference...

  • @gregrowe1168

    @gregrowe1168

    6 жыл бұрын

    Tidal pull would be a lot greater than when the Moon oribited the Earth. That would increase Earth's temp by several degrees, just as he said. That doesn't sound like a lot but it takes a collossal event to even raise the temp by 1 deg C. It might be the end of most of life on this planet. Humans would adapt but most species would go extinct.

    Naah. The moon would either get kicked out or crushed into a ring system. At best, if it hit all the right angles, it could survive as a moon of both planets with a deeper orbit.

    Wouldn't Venus cool being further away from the sun? Or is the distance insignificant overall to Venus' makeup?

  • @Itsnartlex

    @Itsnartlex

    7 жыл бұрын

    It wouldn't cool by that much at all because of Venus' atmosphere. It absorbs much more heat from the suns rays than the Earth does and it has a runaway greenhouse effect, which is what blankets the heat into the planet until its oceans boil away and keeps other greenhouse gases onto the planet.

    If Venus had a similar atmosphere to Earth, even at its closer distance to the Sun, it would be still be a little hotter than Earth but might be habitable. It technically is within the Golidlocks zone, as is Mars but Mars lack of mass keeps it cold because its unable to secure much of an atmosphere. Earth's magnetic field is essential to life too as it protects us from deadly cosmic rays. Earth's tilt on its axis is also important to our climate. If it weren't exactly as it is now, our fragile grip on life might slip through our hands.

    >>-------------------> Great channel Dreksler. Heads up on your "th" pronunciations. Your "thick" sounds like "tick", your "both" sounds like "boat", thank > tank, thin > tin, etc. I've noticed it's a repetitive habit of yours, but one that I am sure that you'd like to work on. I'm working on Chinese Mandarin myself, as a third language, and I've always appreciated constructive criticism on my own mispronunciations. As a loyal subscriber of yours, I give your videos a 10 rating! -Xièxiè.
