There are retro consoles that play old genesis games over streaming like its Netflix for games. They arent that expensive.

Somewhere in a parallel universe this new SEGA console is a real thing for sure. It looks awesome, and your video is great work.

Even if they make one, the hardware will be made by people who bought their names and not really the same people of Sega from back then. Sega doesn't promote employees from within the company so even if they make one it'll be another flopped in a few years. It's same situation like Atari is right now. It's just a different company but with the old name attached to it. This is unlike Nintendo cause Nintendo promote from within, any higher ups in Nintendo's company were once smaller employee working with the devs.

The original xBox IS the Dreamcast 2. Microsoft was originally just collaborating with SEGA, but ended up buying the rights and rebranded it. You can see the remaining evidence in the controller design and memory bays of it. There's a reason for SEGA being exclusive to xBox/xBox 360 for a period of time, which was due to a 10 year contract, that may have been terminated early. That being said, for a little extra modernization, I would have suggested some USB-C ports, since that is the standard going forward. Aside from that minor critique, you did a great job my friend. I imagine you would be rather spot on with your design, and you could potentially expect to be contacted by SEGA for future designs if they did decide to jump back in.

Damn. 2001 is when I first started playing video games.. by then Sega was discontinued. I feel like if they were still making game consoles today, I would be playing their latest console over the PS5, Series X and the switch.

@@segaunited3855 Nintendo does not want to fight Sony and Microsoft. They like the handheld scene because that's where they dominate and it appeals a ton to their Japanese audience which is still very important to them unlike Sony

I love the design of the Cosmos. Great name too!

It was called the Genesis because the SEGA founders and heads of SEGA of america (SEGA was founded in the US before moving headquarters to Japan) didn't like the Megadrive name.. and he wanted a name for the console in the US that signified a new beginning for SEGA.

There is also more to that story. It is said that some guy at Atari actually helped come up with that name while they were in talks with Sega to distribute the Genesis. Before Genesis, they were thinking of calling it the "Tomahawk". That deal fell through but they kept the Genesis name.

If Sega made a console today, I would be very very very happy. The Dreamcast Sonic was one of my favorites

Oh what could have been but might never be! I was left with a feeling of betrayal, emptyness, and sadness when I learned that my Sega Dreamcast was discontinued less than a year of me buying it, and what's worst is that this was to be the last actual console ever made by Sega.

Eh, it looks neat but a console needs more than just an interesting shell, it would need decent specs, UI, and of course first and third-party support.

I really miss sega and sonic. For me it was my first childhood dream to get a sega. Now people are crazy about graphics. Its good. But i still love the classic sonic 3 vs knuckles.

The irony now of Xbox being so heavily featured in this video lol. Sega and Xbox are soul mates in many ways. I owned a Dreamcast as a kid and i own a series s, probably the last console from each company.

What would be perfect is that if you turn the console upwards that the Sega Logo Automatically flips

Should of went with the six face buttons layout like the Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis had which would make it fighting games ready out of the box. Just a single pair of triggers like Sega Dreamcast had and a single pair of Xbox style bumpers for games would be enough for shooting games,racing games etc...

I hope one day Sega will return to making gaming consoles as Sega was the perfect place to make hardware and crush Sony forever

@@crestofhonor2349 PS5 is just a Slightly enhanced Xbox One X using A High Speed Customized Vega GPU and is powered by a Ryzen 5, which is actually STILL weaker and slower than even an Intel 4790k. Our D*** DX will be FASTER, MUCH more Powerful, will have BETTER Computing, and will using a much Stronger Slightly Enhanced and customized 1660 RTX Super GPU. Oh and it won't just be much more inexpensive, it'll bring back TRADITIONAL Console Gaming WITHOUT DRM, Stupid Season Passes, Annoying Loot Crates and having to Instal Games instead of Boot them. AND it'll have Backwards Compatibility with 3DO,PCFX, Amiga and FM Towns Marty.

I really just want Saturn and Dreamcast Minis. There are so many gems on those systems that cost way too much to collect now adays.

With all honesty, Sega should hire you just for this video alone. Damn this is wholesome! If Sega adressed all of the complaints people have with Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox One, then this black horse could actually be a force to be reckoned with. I would rename it Sega Space or Sega Infinite Space (so people call it SIS). My recommendations: Blue displays being able to change color to any color desired - a little detail, but a nod to customisation. And, most importantly, the special feature of this console - optional - HOLOGRAPHIC projector for video games. Take that and we take a quantum leap into the future.

Sega is long overdue for a console, I already have their previous ones and am needing my collection to grow.

Would love to see them make a console that can play all of their games. Everything from arcade hardware to all gaming consoles & handhelds

I really hope Sega returns and if they do I hope they blow everyone out of the water. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo need competition.

I would love a modded PS5 or a Dreamcast to look like this, also love the controller idea, and I could see Sega doing that, tho I would put the usb port on the battery, that way you can easily charge one when you are playing with the other, and if you did need to plug it in, you still can when playing

These are excellent. I keep hoping someone will make a modern duel shock style controller with 6 face buttons. I really only use controllers for platformers and find using shoulder buttons for abilities awkward. Sega figured it out in the 90s.

Please someone make this a reality as a gaming PC at least!

The Mega Drive was also called the Genesis in Canada, not just the US. And the Master System also sold extremely well in Australia and Brazil.

If SEGA want it to make an independent gaming console just like Atari, it will be a perfect solution to not joining the console war again after what happen to the dreamcast

Nintendo actually makes money when a game sells on their store front, when their hardware and accessories sell, and when devs and customers buys their cartridges so nah Nintendo makes more money as a 1st party. As a third party they only earn money from just games, as a 1st party they earn money from physical game sales, cartridge bulk sales, digital storefront sales, NSO subscribers fee, accessories sales, promotions, and their own first and second party catalogs of games plus any product their partners sell with their name attached to it such as the Super Mario Bros. Movie, Pokemon stuffs, and Amiibos, that's a lot of earnings. Also if they go third party they actually earn less as they had to pay to get their games everywhere, if they want to sell on PS+ they had to pay license to Sony, if they sell on Xbox Marketplace or GamePass they had to pay license to Microsoft, and if they sell on Steam they had to pay license to Valve. Why go third party when they could just sell their own games free on their own storefront and charge everything full price?

At the moment Nintendo is way too big to go 3rd party. Sega is the smaller company and cannot quite afford to go 1st party.
