You crushed it! 🔥 I made this song when I was obsessed with Tigran Hamasyan... Actually my view of time signature in this song was in eight notes. 5/8 3/8 5/8 4/8 3/8, but I was counting 5/8 TakiDidami 3/8 Takida 5/8 TakiDidami 4/8 Takidimi 3/8 Takida... of course there is 4/4 part and some changes in end part.

@sebastianschellhase738 I would look into the stuff Mike Mitchell and Greg Spero have done. Mitchell is an insane jazz drummer whose playing is also heavily influenced by metal. Also, the stuff Matt Garstka has done outside of Animals as Leaders. More specifically, check out stuff he's done with Louis de Mieulle.

Check out Trioscapes. They only put out 2 albums but they were phenomenal. Bassist for prog metal band "Between the Buried and Me" formed that band, and it pretty much sounds like crazy complex prog metal but with sax and jazz flute and no vocals. The music in this video fits perfectly with the stuff they put out.

That was absolutely fkn wild. I could listen to music like this 24/7. Something about the drumming style that's at once so progressive but with Jazz foundations and cymbal tones and the style of saxophone (the best horn there is) brings so much energy but at the same time is so relaxing and helps me create and sustain a comfortable flow state as well as a rush of this strange nostalgia that's difficult to describe of things that feel so familiar to me but that I can't remember ever having experienced. Anyway, I'm probably nuts but that's some killer stuff.

@@oroque492I saw them in 2017 on their first UK tour. Unfortunately some sound issues (particularly with the microphone) took place, BUT the vocalist was hilarious. He took my friends massive bar of Toblerone (An English chocolate) and sang into it instead and then came and moshed with us in the crowd. After that, we all chanted "One of Us" and the whole band did an improv to the chant. It was a shame, but also absolutely one of the best shows still. I got to chat to the electric violin player, Ben, after the show. He is just awesome!

Tigran Hamasyan. As soon as possible. His music is exactly what you are looking for. He blends Armenian folk influences, jazz, and prog metal with the piano as the primary instrument. His drummer is absolutely insane. Vardavar, Vortex (ft Tosin Abasi), Drip, and Shoger Jan are some tracks to get you started. One from a few different albums. He’s a god.
As a metalhead who dabbles in jazz and r&b this was absolutely amazing to me. Really loved it.

Ok ignore the amazing music and hilarious humor in this video for a sec, that is the stankiest most funky drum kit I've ever seen and I'm loving it?????
