Crunchy Korean Fried Chicken Recipe watch and join us
We are in Canada and my parents met in India during WWII. My mum Indian but reared in Burma. My dad - English blonde and blue eyes loved curry for his entire life. My mum would make some curry about twice a week and on holidays. For example. On Christmas we had a turkey, a steak and kidney pie/or roast beef and a lamb and boiled egg curry. My dad always said ,even until his death here in Canada - he had never had as amazing Chinese food as he did in India.
I appreciate how you explain the origins and history behind the dish! Food is such a fascinating part of all human history! Your excitement when cooking is so genuine and pure. You make me want to keep exploring in the kitchen. Ps. Your dad is the cutest flippin' thing!! He's so proud of his hat! 😂 Machu Pichu is on my bucket list. I wish I could be a park ranger too buddy! I didn't feel like deep frying, but since your dad said the baked version was a little dry I tried to adapt the recipe a little bit: I didn't add any batter and simply roasted the cauliflower in the oven with a bit of oil and spices, and then coated it with the sauce. It was surely less crispy, but definitely not dry! Maybe a good compromise for those who don't want to deep fry

This takes me back to college in Bangalore with the only two Indian friends I made the whole year I was there, Oli and Mo! We would gobble down the canteen's Gobi Manchurian, super oily and red with I think food colour...and it was the most delicious thing in the world to us! Miss them, and the street version of this dish. Thanks for the memories
Add it to the room temp sauce. I think you just taught me why I have issues with a lot of recipes like orange chicken. Thank you!

Hey, honestly thank you so much for posting this. Getting into some of these more heavily-spiced dishes can be very intimidating because there are so many combinations and even sources and subtle variations! You presented this in a really fun, light, approachable way! I'm not Indian myself but for some reason grew up around a large Indian community and have always eaten Indian food growing up. It's literally to the point where now I feel like Indian food is a home-food/comfort-food to me (as WELL as an exciting and fun option when dining out!) I just have so much love for it, as some who didn't quite have their own Indian auntie but certainly spent a lot of time around my friends' Indian aunties! Anyways, it's been a while now that I've been wanting to make my own dishes instead of blowing all my money dining out all the time! This will be my first step!
Looks so delicious:) And I love your taste testers. I have to thank your dad for his enthusiastic describtion of roasting mustard seeds (pop, pop, pop) on a different occasion. They are locally well available, and I have neglected them before - so tasty, in almost all dishes!
Please please make more Indian inspired weeknight easy/fast recipes! My fam loves the lentil curry and would love more easy recipes like that

I wish I could post a photo of how my dish turned out, because it looks amazing and tastes EVEN BETTER!! I'm on a special diet so I used coconut sugar, cassava flour, tamari and sugarless ketchup. Everything about this is perfect. I am a HUGE Indian food/indo-chinese food fan and this is one of my all-time favorite dishes. We have some places here in Austin that serve some of the best Gobi Manchurian I've ever had. Most every recipe I tried at home was lacking that tomato-ey sweetness. Excellent call with the ketchup! Sister my favorite Indian food: Naan (cooked in a tandoori oven) and dhal. I was in India for a looooooong time, primarily the MacLeod Ganj area (I wanted to see the Dalai Lama but he wasn't there) and Rishikesh (I used to translate a weekly magazine about a guru who lived in Rishikesh. My stomach is very delicate and I can only eat light food. In MacLeod Ganj, I found freshly baked bread, homemade peanut butter, Chinese noodles and other veggies. There are many Western people in MacLeod Ganj so you can find all kinds of food but for vegans you have to pay attention because they use dairy everywhere. Rishikesh, on the other hand, is a very spiritual small town by the Ganga River surrounded by ashrams. I was so blessed, I found a healthy restaurant with vegan food who cooked me spaghetti (yep, I was born and raised in Italy and I love pasta!) and all sorts of healthy vegan meals. The place was inside a health center which also offers massages, and a spa. Absolutely delicious! Then I found a Hare Krishna restaurant which offered incredibly tasty vegetarian and vegan dishes (the vegan options were marked on the menu), very healthy and nutritious too. And when I was feeling ill, the young hotel manager where I was staying (a cheap one with river view), cooked dhal and rice for me: the best medicine and very tasty too! Thank you all for the great time and wonderful food. 🍲😊😁😀🙌😃😄😉👏

That's what we also do in India too. Also its quite a versatile dish, you can add baby corn, paneer/tofu or if you are non-vegetarian boneless chicken/prawn & fish. You can also serve it with rice (fried rice to be more specific) just like you did with noodles( again a common Street dish in India), it will be a full course meal on of its own. Just have a cola/fizz or some soothing drink to accompany this; like a mint or something.
I’m sure there were many laughs and warm hugs growing up with your parents.
This looks so yummy! Love the dish.
I made the baked version, and we all loved it! I air-fried the cauli ahead of battering it, to give it some extra flavor and texture, then followed the steps. I used corn flake crumbs as the final dip over the batter and it was nice and crunchy, and the side sauce is delicious.
