McGregor is a superstar and Floyd is not, I think your a little off with that statement Colin. Regardless the state of boxing regardless of how one feels about floyds persona, to say a boxer that is 40-0 is not a superstar is a little off in my opinion.

Its just going to be a hard road for Connor if he goes back to the UFC or if he decides to pursue boxing as a career. If he comes back to the UFC, he will have to face Khabib (who I think would seriously hurt Connor by taking him down and ground and pounding him) Tony Ferguson, Edzon Barboza, and even Max Halloway (Max now, not when Connor beat him when he was 3-2 and coming off a loss). Max is coming off a 10 fight winning streak and has a real win over Jose Aldo in a 3 round fight, not some 14 second fluke where Aldo just threw himself forward and got caught. If he fights Nate Diaz it would be a hard fight for him as well, but maybe Connor would have the advantage in this fight. If he tries to move up to 170 and face Tyron Woodley for the welterweight title, Tyron has the perfect style to beat him with excellent wrestling (NCAA Division I wrestler). We know Connor struggles against wrestlers as his take down defense got exposed by Chad Mendes. Even though Medes lost, he was taking him down at will and landed vicious elbows and even cut Connor over his eyebrow. And a big reason as to why he lost that fight is because he only had 2 weeks to prepare for that fight and ended up gassing after the first round, as oppose to Connors's 3 month training camp. I encourage everyone to go back and watch that fight. I could even see Cody Garbrandt with his sick speed who is the 135 pound champion, give Connor problems. Even TJ and Cruz would be hard fights for him if those guys chose to move up. And as far as boxing goes, who is he going to fight and actually beat, Manny, Canelo? I could easily see Connor going like 1-7 in his next fights starting with Floyd.

kmartinez12100 you mean the same Chad Mendez that has a long suspension for being a drug cheat? Conor will fight whoever will make him the most money that's what it's all about. After making 100 million in boxing it's going to be hard going back to the ufc for 3 million. Kabib in Russia is something I can see him doing but Kabib will probably miss weight like he has so many times before anyways. Money fights is where it's at nowadays why do you think John jones called out lesnar? He's looking for that super fight payday

I have to disagree. Conor has historically performed his worst when facing short notice opponents. Conor was dealing with an 80% acl tear in the Mendes fight. He didn't have th ability to train wrestling for most of his camp and knew fighting takedowns could lead to further damaging his knee. This is also why Conor had to kick and punch Mendes to the body every chance he got. Conor knew he would need to attack Chad's gas tank. Simply dismissing all the things Conor has done are unfair. let's also not forget, Alvarez tried for 3 takedowns and was easily stuffed all 3 times. that guy is a high level wrestler as well.

Conor never going back to UFC what for lmfao when he will get paid peanuts, he loses mayweather so what everyone does he goes on to fight paulie in a PPV he makes 40+ million for that fight, He gets canelo he makes another 100+ million for that fight. in 3 fights in boxing conor could make over 250 million dollars! thats in 1 year worth of fights, he'll have to fight like 20 fights in teh UFC to make that money.

He would go back to UFC 100%. Mcgregor may be a huge superstar BUT he needs to win in order to continue being a super star. And while Mayweather was once the best boxing in the sport (which he no longer is let's just be clear on that). Mayweather is a very calculated risk he's not a big puncher your life and health are not really in jeopardy against him he does not have the ability to end careers. Let's say he looks good. The next biggest fight for Mcgregor would be the Winner of ggg vs canelo 2 HUGE punchers. That would quite literally put Mcgregors future, life and career in jeopardy.

Floyd is going to catch Conor with a lot of jabs, back stepping left hooks, and overhand rights. Conor's aggressiveness will wear down and he'll begin to stop throwing as many punches, near the 6th or 7th round you will see Floyd stop toying with him and try to get the knockout and will get the knockout. Floyd is going to win

UFC is going downhill because there are hardly any big stars left unlike the old days. McGregor will probably retire soon and if Jon Jones beats Lesner, he will probably too. Outside of the UFC, MMA is hardly a popular sport compared to boxing. Boxing has superstars that maybe not be big as McGregor, BUT they do have way more stars overall like Joshua, Ward, Canelo, GGG, Lomo and etc all multimillionairs who have large followings.

  • @okcx3682

To the masses Joshua is unknown outside UK, Ward is unknown, Canelo unknown outside of Mexico, Lomachenko unknown. The only ones are GGG, Floyd and Pacquiao. Everyone else has their niche followings but are relatively unknown to the masses. UFC has the potential for more stars because the UFC is the NFL to Bellators CFL, therefore they are the top company and have the best of the best whereas boxing is so vast that the best boxers go relatively unknown. How many people have heard of Rigondeaux. Not a lot, but he's probably a top 5 all time defensive fighters. Gonzalez? Kovalev? Thurman? All niche fan bases with no superstar capabilities.
