IEVAN POLKKA TUTORIAL 12 - The secrets of the arrangement

Loituma website: www.loituma.fi.
I’m introducing here the backing vocals for Loituma’s arrangement of Ievan polkka. You’ll find out the reasons why we are doing these different sounds and rhythms and how the whole arrangement is formed. I’ll also explain what Timo is actually saying. =) I hope you’ll find this video useful.

Like...they literally did not used any instruments and the whole sound was created without instruments...Hats off!👍

i'm glad that all 4 members are OK and looking good in 2021 , after seeing that video from 1996 (when was recorded your performance of this song on stage) ... that was 25 years ago.. time is relative :)
It really is incredible how people from every corner of the earth seem to be able to connect with this song. I think the rhythm goes deep down into our primal human soul. God bless from Ireland.

Hanni I love it that you make these videos for your fans! You're such a sympathetic woman and I thank you for being so close to your fans by your videos. Loituma really deserves its fame.
Always nice to see a Hanni video drop! Thank you for all the effort you do for us.

@@HanniAutere Wow, that would be really awesome! Thanks in advance!
I knew this was gonna require some musical knowledge since you guys are singing different notes to form the chords in the accompanyment. I became a fan when I first saw you guys because of your musicality rather than the song itself My favorite part is that climbing chord that you and sari do towards the end. It feels like more than 3 voices singing because my mind doesn't realize that the new higher note is being replaced by a lower note. It just feels like new voices are adding higher notes to the chord. It always feels like magic
I always loved the "kaatis" and "kaas" from that first verse, how they were like non-intuitive to follow up, it gives like a playful mood and always made me smile while trying to catch it up! Estoy amando tus videos, Hanni!
I like when you sing the " hili pa hili pampa"
I have used this as a ring tone for over ten years, because I loved it. I did not realise just how much this would eventually spoil the tune for me. Now when I hear it I think 'must answer phone' and I don't enjoy the music.

Sorry about that! =) Of course you don't have to listen to this.
I suggest that in the one of next tutorials the whole Loituma could sing Ievan polka slower so we can observe better how does arrangement work

@@HanniAutere I personally would love to have the individual audio recordings from the video that you uploaded about two months ago, that would make it easier to hear the individual parts. It was put together very well for listening purposes, but if you want to hear a specific part, it's challenging.

I love how much rhythmic possibility there is with the Finnish language! Consonants with pauses after them, long vowels and short vowels all in free variation :) If you had to do this in Swedish or Italian you would be forced by the strict patterns of those languages, but in Finnish, it's only the content of the lyrics that restricts your creativity :D
I love this song through all my life. I am 22. Love incredibly. Hello from Russia, Sakhalin ❤️
It's awesome that even the arrangement has its meaning - almost it's all are real words, that are connected to the lyrics of the song.😁

Thank you, Hanni, you are so nice to explain what I could never understand by myself. Finnish is not so easy if you don't know the language, but hopefully, I can easily pronounce all those sentences easier because we have the same sounds in Italian (let's say almost, what we read we pronounce). So thank you again and I hope to send you a final Ievan Polkka version. Big hug to all the band ;)
The funny part was how you said that Timo wasn't looking for Paul, but saying "Pol" instead and said in the captions "big reveal". That made me laugh. Great video!

Hey, thanks for the great videos! I love Ievan polkka and all your videos teaching us about it. Love from Sweden!

Thank you again for this amazing journey that's been watching this videos about the most amazing song I can't really understand, but don't need to... It just feels good, and now I know why... 😘🇧🇷

Hurraaaay another wonderful video 😍
Thank you for the explanation. I love your rendition of this as I’ve said before.
Very well explained! I lobed hearing about all those details.
Wow, I'm so glad you didn't stop after showing the solo parts of the song and took your time to explain the arrangement, it's so interesting and hard to grasp, because lyrics never include it! The "tuki suus" and "korjoo luus" part is hilarious :) Also I wonder if the "polkkati" actually means anything, maybe it is a grammatical form of the word "polkka"?
@HanniAutere
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I also think that "tuki suus" and "korjoo luus" sounds hilarious. =) You are right, the word polkkati comes from polkka and I have no idea who invented it. But there just had to be a part that goes to the accompanying rhythm. =)
Wow that is awesome.... Thanks for uploading the video. ❤❤😊😊
I love your verse I don’t know but I’m really sorta addicted to hearing it over and over ❤️
I knew Timo had no interest in Paul! Pol on the other hand, was not finnished as the word ended with ka.. (Just a little joke the Paul thing amuses me and annoys me at the same time so thanks for adressing that) I think this is one of my favorite channels now :)
