is it ok to use the word 'youngsters' in writing? isnt it informal ?
if one paragraph is shorter, isnt it considered as unbalanced ? and is this way ok only in this kind of essay?

It depends on the essay and your position. If you partially agree, so the side that you basically do not agree with should be shorter.
