A lot has been said about the candidate, but what's so great about this clip is the examiner. He's phenomenal! He speaks clearly & follows every single detail of the guideline to a tee. He says every word of the instructions he's supposed to. Plus, he is polite & carries himself in such a way that makes you feel comfortable. The speaking task examiner of the IELTS plays a big part how you would score. If you have an examiner like this gentleman, you're well on your way to a high-band score!

I'm a trained examiner. The interviewer is really close to the real thing. As for her score, I'd just give her a 6. She is about a 7 in stage 1 but she has too many hesitation problems, repetition. She's about a 6-7 in stage 2. The crucial stage for her is stage 3 - this is where she reaches her limit, stumbles and makes a number of errors and is unable to use complex sentences competently - a 6. Realistically she's about 6.5 but there's no .5s in the speaking & she's more of a 6 than a 7.

I just saw my result. And it's 7.5 with listening 7.5, speaking 7.5, reading 7 and writing 8.0 2 out of 3 passages in my reading test contained weird topics, unmatched to my engineering background, and I ran out of time too. Anyhow, I'm still happy all sub bands are at least 7 and over.

I don't know why u r all so crazy about her speaking. yeah, she has nice pronunciation and she is rather cute, but that's it. She is constanly confusing prepositions, using, for instance, present tenses speaking about past actions as she did in part 2, her vocabulary lacks some "smart words", no complicated grammatical constractions like cleft, inversions etc. As a teacher of IELTS I doubt she would get more than 7.

@nblumer I got 5.5 in the speaking test. So, I cannot believe that there is no .5s. There are several examples of .5s in the DVD IELTS SCORE EXPLAINED which is promoted by IELTS website. Finally, I said 7 because it is one example of the official guide of the IELTS, where they show thre examples 5, 5.5 and 7, but I am not a trained examiner as you.

@carlosalbertohm Probably you are right; even though her pronunciation and accent are quite clear and neutral, she makes some basic mistakes (grammar, vocabulary choice) that probably set back her final score a couple of points.
