We have all this awesome paint and equipment and internet access now so it is a total art movement, graffiti , street art, mural whatever you want to call it the idea is to harness skill in artists. You can never defeat graffiti many councils and cities tried ,failed and wasted alot of money doing that. What you can do though now is actually engage the graffiti artists with skill and get them to commission murals in public space that the public appreciate, this will also lessen the "bad" graffiti. I've seen so much resources by city trying to keep walls grey and "clean" but this is not the answer to graffiti on the city. Yes many have great talent and aren't stupid people, most well most of the talented ones you see are just people looking for a creative outlet and colouring the walls of the grey city they see around them. Been doing it 20+ years and developed myself into some art of it recently i even did a whole course with youth teaching them graffiti art. The attitude did change quite majorly on it since the original NY subway days but the system artform itself is still developing and so is the response to it.

Wish idot would worry as much about the pot holes as they are with street art. Instead of fighting the artists, hire them to make murals.

graffiti is simply synonymous with the broken window analogy it's a gateway to much larger crimes, pretty safe bet those voices who 'oppose' graffiti removal are the ones who are putting it there...

Well, I try to look on the bright side and think "well at least some of them know how to read and write." That's getting rare in these communities, and that's not a joke.

This shouldn't be hard to solve... city should install cameras in saturated areas. If spotted on them, call police. Easy. No excuses.... other than the fact that there's far worse things going on in the city than that.
