Missed the chance to call it Shiny Smily Showdown

I love how it started as normal and calm. Then it started to sound so wrong...then it became clear something terrible arrived. Like you have to struggle through it...then in the middle, theres a bit of hope. That you can continue and try to overcome whatever it is that made it terrible.

The chorus changing back into the major key like it's trying to encourage you while the glitch is trying to mess it up is such a minor yet cool detail in this song

The plot of the Virtual Frontier mode is very throwaway, just there to justify you getting into some hijinx fighting clones of the 8 playable characters; A virus has found its way into HoloLive's servers and is creating corrupted clones of the characters that need to be defeated. But Shiny Smily Story is a song that you can call the "core" of everything that IS HoloLive in a way. It's a celebration of looking at the future with a smile, and something tying every idol in HoloLive together all at once. The prospect that something wants to corrupt something so pure literally makes me tear up. But it also makes me think... "Oh, its fucking ON now."

The combination of distortions and instrumentals gave off the impression that you are fighting something beyond human comprehension and I'm all for it. The twisted amalgamation of every playable character in the game is the root of the problem in Virtual Frontier.

For those who can reach stage 3 and defeat the boss, congratulation for your determination to defeat the entity that has been lingering in the idol showdown and make azky and other happy

The first time I heard this in the final stage of Virtual Frontier, it gives me shivers from the glitched and the incorrectly toned notes. My second time here, listening to this again. [shivers] Oh god, it's glitchingly good.

im not gonna lie, the start of this song reminded me of one-winged angel

i'm honestly devastated that on my first full run, not only did the world map song bug into this fight and play at the same time as this song, but i couldn't even listen to it through the audio jungle since my build was entirely "you either kill them right now or you will die" and it ended in like 15 seconds max. however, this fight was wonderfully executed and i adore this game for it and so much more edit may 2024: error sora was moved into arcade mode and now it’s free from the easy cheese that comes with VF making this fight ten times more fun :)

I do hope this gets added as normal stage music cause why not?

The stage can be unlocked if you use the chains. Don't know if the music can be unlocked, though

Hey, you wouldnt believe it but im front the future-

Nothing quite like the adrenaline rush of clearing this on hard mode for the first time, you somehow turned a cute joyful song into a badass end theme!

The best part about this song is that it covers the entirety of the final battle, covers a full narrative of fear and threat towards hope and combativeness until finally the menace is gone. And at the last second, some characters' (especially Fubuki, Sora, Korone, Coco, Suisei) super attack make it so you hear the part from 2:50 onwards to further congratulate your clutch victory! An awesome OST that blends perfectly with a final boss battle as it happens is a rarity! Fantastic job! :D

The neat part is that the early distortions and tone kinda help match the lyrics of the original song, about hope emerging from despair - not sure if that matches in the same parts of the music, but a nice touch none the less. BTW, for what it's worth, I unlocked this with the chains using Fubuki.

Was really satisfying to reach the final boss, not only for the accomplishment itself, but seeing how it was made an unique fight and very franctic after many item collection and such (instead of just a single character in one of the random stages). Very much appreciated when there are details like those!

I hope the devs add more boss battles in the future

@@IkariLoona There's a LOT of potential enemies in Hololive lore, most of them could make great bosses. Just think Ancient Ones, most of Council, Omega (which could be the Galactus-equivalent to Hololive, but I don't see it being added due to being just that strong, maybe if the idols are somehow given plot-convenient abilities), a Koyori invention gone awry, uhmm... Haachama?

​@@isabellejoestar2455 You mentioned Koyori, but you could make an argument that HoloX would make good villains themselves, as the group is more-or-less the closest Hololive has to bad guys. Plus, if you push beyond strictly Hololive lore you can find some other worthy candidates, prime among them being Monarch due to her lore making her into an interdimensional villain.

Just beaten the Game Mode with the Chains... neat that we got this dynamic stage, cause we get different versions depending on the song you pick. Kinda sad that this isnt in the lineup, but hoping someone finds the way to unlock it. It would make deathmatches feel and sound legendary.

The theme that plays when you fight a corrupted version of the best character and is also using the moves of other characters AND has the most hp of any enemy who fights back.

this is the kind of stuff which makes me want to 1v1 a god despite of all the odds

I hope this theme gets added in the next patch, i wanna play this at the bar to this rocking music with my friends

(UN)official "Share your Virtual Frontier" story time thread: With Botan being the sole representative of Gen 5, she had cosplays based on Lamy, Nene, and Polka. However, one was missing and is needed to be unlocked. Finishing Virtual Frontier is required to unlock Cosplay #4; Cosplay #4 contained one friend, forgotten by all but a few. So it became a personal mission of mine, despite being a Fubuki main and had no idea of her mix-ups, B&Bs, and some of the meter moves, set a course to unite the one friend. It took me 19 tries until I reached the final stage. Armed with rotten yubis, a bucket of KFP, Soda that made you invincible, and a robot companion named Roboco, on the first try of reaching ERROR SORA...... I was triumphant. I beat this stage a while back having what i think was every item that did auto damage, Orca Mask, Anya, Music Box, Umbrella, whatever that item that shot fireballs on auto attacks all on lvl 3 or higher. Even then it wasnt an easy fight with Fubiki.
