Fuck I was hoping nobody mentioned the diff in Joe's vocal efforts in this or could just be an extra emotional day or time for the selfless gentlemen but it was literally the 2nd comment. Being a drummer for 25 yrs Ive always noticed those rare moments when I get slightly off time on certain lines from recording to live setting but he makes up for it with overwhelming ferocity and the bands been playing together so fucking long they'll find eachother thru any blunder. Even if it fell to pieces and they failed to even Finnish fuck it, if music is too perfect it takes the humanity out of it and once you've done that might as well not play no more cuz that's what music's for. Exists to build bridges and keep ppl who have the ability a very incredible out when it comes to mental illness. I can only speak for myself but when I'm creating my subconscious is a long for the ride and inadvertantly contributing to the process rather than make me chase it all around the cosmos all day trying to answer questions idk who's even asking me, for lack of better words........ 1 involuntary rant later (apologies), lotta musicians play to try getting big, famous, or wtv the fuck and others do it cuz we fucking have to or get the straight jacket. Once again, speak for myself. They absolutely play because they have to!!! When passion and love can literally be seen on stage, it gives me hope, makes me feel like there's something much bigger going on here. This band is the Ayahuasca of the music world, bringing ppl together just like plants' compounds become 1.

What amazes me the most is the impossible balance joe and company have achieved between great and energetic violence and profound and authentic sensibility. This songs actually speak about this whole era with sharp criticism but also profound understanding of the times we are living. Even more: they cannot be imitiated because of the unique energy and strength they put in every note, every phrase, every expression, always giving the 300% in the scenario, this is how you can tell they're passionate, they love what they do and truly respect their audience, always giving us different but amazing interpretations of the same songs, that are always new. They are never robotic, never tired, never the same, that's why every performance is unique and truly amazing, I shall thank them for being who they are, and initiatives like from the basement for giving us the chance to enjoy this musical revolution. Can't wait to see and listen to them live, it's going to be a dream come true. With bands like Idles, King Gizzard, Squid or Black Midi, I must say that these are exciting times to be alive. All hail Idles!

I'm new here and this my actual first listen to this band. I dont get to deep into how much Im impressed with this performance and how everything is in its right place, but I will get into one thing, the song "The Beachland Ballroom". This song is "the song"... Its the one that I guess I needed to hear the most. I didnt know what to expect going into the song but what I can say for sure is that, it left me bleeding in my emotions and tears, and even tho its been 3 hours since my initial listen, the song still leaves a mark, leaves me speechless. The last segament of the song, is most of how I felt in the past 6-8 months and I couldnt let it out because I didnt know how. But hearing those vocals cut through this barrier of being passive and emotionless... Sorry for me rambling on, I think I just needed to write this somewhere...

Randomly was recommended their tiny desk concert, was decently amused/interested. Now 5-6 months later I can’t stop listening to the beautiful passion that is IDLES. This is such a goddamn great performance of their Crawler album. Really no song should be skipped here, I can’t say enough good things….

Wow, what a level of musicianship/musicality there! It's important to realize that it's not always about how technical or progressive or complex music is to value it's musical quality. I mean, I usually tend to give this kind of credit to bands like Radiohead, Black Midi and such, but in this case it's something completely different. Just their choice of a sound, tightness, arrangements, sometimes very useful minimalism on drums and overall chemistry between them is why I'm absolutely blown away as a listener and as a musician.
