I have A-Fib along with IPF but never had a lung biopsy but was told I had this & given a time limit. I live in Fl. & in. My late 70's so glad I lasted this long. Never smoked, doing find , just for breathing.

Hi Gloria, my dad who is 67, was just diagnosed with IPF, he had heart surgery back in Feb and even though the pre-op scans showed scarring of the lungs, nothing was said to him. Now he is in the ICU and we have been told he is in end stage. I pray you keep on living and feeling well. I have seen how fast this disease can hit and as you know, healthcare in FL is not the best. Oh, ever since dad had the heart valve replacement in Feb, he too has had Afib.

Totally agreed and a decent admirable sentence at the end " Cough is the most annoying symptoms of IPF apart from all other symptoms " And the saddest part of cough in IPF (as I have seen) is that it is almost fail to manage cough even after using multiple drug system.

I have IPF and am on oxygen therapy. I also take Esbriet, but I don't feel it has helped me, which is not to say it won't help others. I think mine is just too far along. But, I am not ready to go yet, so I will fight to the end. Wish you all well !!

@@kalpeshbhalerao9403 Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a serious lung disease. Please consult pulmonologist/Lung specialist immediately.

@@aniketsankpal250 Yes I have discussed this with Pulmonologist and he told me the damage is more than 50% to lungs....so we can keep the medicines going on to save the rest of 50%.

My sweet dad was recently diagnosed and he’s only 55 years old so I really I’m scared of him passing soon. I hope the Esbriet treatment does something to extend his life expectancy

Have him join Pulmonary Fibrosis News by Bio News Networks. There are many forums that may offer good insights and it is all free. Also, join or sign on to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (PFF). They list viable trials and insights - free.

@@pratikshabhagat3098 hey there! Dad is still going at it! Thankfully esbriet actually works for him, but he does feel a decline in his health, as it is to be expected. There’s no permanent cure, the last resource would be to get a lung transplant but that’s risky and something that should be throughly evaluated with the whole expert team. Thank you for asking! @@chaosdev09 Hey there! Thanks for reaching out! 4 months ago, Dad got a double lung transplant because, unfortunately, the Esbriet treatment stopped working for him about 8 months ago. His doctors suggested Ofev, but it didn't work out. Right now, his health is amazing! He's exercising, singing, dancing, driving - he's really gotten his life back, and I'm incredibly grateful for that. The recovery wasn't easy, but every day spent with him is a blessing If you want more info about the surgery, Esbriet, Ofev, or anything else related, just hit me up!

can anyone provide a summary of what they are advising for the sufferers of IPF?

I have IPF and have been reading about it. This presentation is by far the best I have come across.

I am prescribed Esbriet and completing the procedure for receiving for shipment for supply for first one month. I am in good hands at Inova Fairfax VA hospital that diagnosed and will monitor the treatment . Luckily for me Genentech Foundation has stepped in to pick up out of pocket costs.

Hi I don't understand alot about this condition. I wander could anyone tell me if a person was admitted to intensive care, placed on 90 percent oxygen, would it be of benefit to put them into negative hydration or am I wrong and it would make things worse.

Hi sir, I finished my medical examination on 09/02/2017 in Gulf approved medical center. But they said Unfit due to "Bilateral upper lobe fibrotic lesion". In the next day i went to examine outside specialist doctor ( in the specialist of Pulmonology ) But he examined everything and said you don't have any issue to unfit. But nobody cannot responding according the issue in the same medical centre. That's y i'm asking you. But this job is very valuable in my life. I've suffered with TB last 11 years back. Now I'm healthy. How to remove scars from the lungs??? Kindly give a valuable suggestion to fit in the next time. Otherwise give a reference a doctor to fit in the next time.

sir if X-RAY Report is like-: 1.Fibrotic band is seen in left mid zone. 2.bronchovascular markings are prominent bileterally. 3.sequlae of old infection So what is the meaning of this X-RAY Report can u please tell me about these??????is there any sign of pulmonary fibrosis????

I saw My Father die of this Horrible disease...He came from Europe...In the 1950's...And he smoked....Not much But a social smoker...I'm worried that I might have that IPF....And I'm 45..
