Identifying the Golden State Killer: An Interview with Paul Holes and Barbara Rae-Venter
Ғылым және технология
In April of 2018, news broke that the elusive Golden State Killer had been identified through a new technique called genetic genealogy (or investigative genealogy). In just 4 ½ months, Paul Holes and his team (including genealogist Barbara Rae-Venter) put a name to the man who had terrorized California for years.
In this interview, Paul and Barbara discuss working on the case together, how genetic genealogy has helped solve other cold cases and what they foresee for the future, how their lives have changed since news broke of their involvement, and what’s next for them.

Barbara Rae-Venter is such a humble lady - a brilliant new zealander . Also Paul Holes a great American policeman.

No argument here!
There were so many people that worked on this case from different angles. It's amazing how cooperative everyone was throughout this process. Well done all.
they deserve some medal of honor
This interviewer is one of the best I’ve seen. So much skill and class. Very good taste in clothing and manners

Is it titled "Unmasked"? I'm just about done with "I'll be gone in the dark" by Michelle McNamara. Great listen and pulls you into this case
What an interesting insider's view! Thank you for sharing this interview with us, and many thanks to these two for all of their incredibly hard work in solving these kinds of cases. 💗

Maybe he can investigate the sexual assaults committed by Rogan's buddies.
Both professionals are brilliant and dedicated.
I would like to know more about the don't s of all this. For positivity aspects
I hope with her technique they will solve the Delphi Murders.
Mr. Holes is dominating the discussion. Ms. Rae-Venter is barely getting a word in edgewise.

Parabon Labs?
Still, they could have got him had they checked on a cop as a possible culprit. Did they? The chief of police of Auburn couldn't make 2 and 2 about DeAngelo's reaction to his being fired from him, his threat to him and the unknown who spied on his daughter with a torch. Nobody asks Holes about that in the interviews I've seen so far.

He got away with it because he knew the system and they didn’t follow up why he was sacked which maybe it could have helped
I am wondering when this trial will start. I am hoping it starts this year before the beast dies. And cheats justice.

His lawyers are seeking a plea deal, He(DeAngelo)is willing to plead guilty if he can get life in prison. Considering that there is a colossal amount of evidence,it's could take years before it even goes to trial. If they reach a deal for life in prison, he should be required to allocute to each and every crime.

I’m confused, because CC More claims to be the DNA detective that identified the Golden State killer. 🥴

I also wondered about that. Apparently Cece Moore uses the technique devised by this brilliant pair in cases, but she did not solve GSK.
