Identifying real true Wild Betta Imbellis (no hybrid)

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This video is a guide for those who want to breed the best wild type betta, Betta Imbellis. I will go over some traits that I believe are ideal when selecting breeding stocks. I will also go over some traits to avoid that are indicative of hybridization. Betta imbellis are one of the most commonly hybridized fish sold in the market and finding a true Wild stock can actually be very difficult due to a large number of Thai farmers and just the general lack of knowledge around this species. I hope everyone enjoys this video, please leave a comment if you have any questions!

    This is very informational. I’m learning more about identifying wild species. I’m also hoping that the wild betta hobby becomes more strict with how they handle pure species and hybrids, too many fish are being sold as the real species when they are hybrids. Take the corydoras hobby for example, they are strict with not producing hybrids with species and localities, this is really good for preserving the species in captivity and keeping them true to form.

    Even you dont know that in the past ... There is 1 city in my province have a brown color , their color like clay color , thats why we call them clay color skin imbelis and have strong heart . Ohh yeah , i forgot to tell you that anal fins of imbelis is come in variation , there is long and short , depend on what place and gene of their population , but usually the anal fins can also a sign to tell ages . Although there are some have short anal fins genes .

    Long anal fin is a sign of age, but its also a sign of hybridnization with longer fins species. Brown color is "cambodian" which is a natural mutation in "betta splenden" type species. You can refer to the differen species within the splenden complex through genetic studies available on google scholar. Thanks for watching.

    Its hard to find original bloodline of imbelis nowadays because many betta fighters were release to nature after fight , this fish for example to describe pure bloodline is totally wrong .

  • @wielijustice
    @wielijustice4 ай бұрын

    You even can find ghost face , full green face and no duo green mask seperated with massive green scale at the stomach area . Only people that play imbelis in era 80's can know what is pure bloodline stock in their habitat of each city or swamp they come from , the one like my uncle , he did selection in 1 bottle that fullfil of same area been caught imbelis , he know what color the best after the seller tell where that fishes come from , even i cannot see the different , yeah ..unique...isnt it ? That fact , that is imbelis player skill . Nowadays player who play betta fighter will easily headache if play imbelis with imbelis players in era 80's . All looks same for them but not imbelis player , they can know their color and some characteristic . Long story bro ... Not that easy .

  • @wielijustice
    @wielijustice4 ай бұрын

    How if i say that : that fish that you used for said true pure bloodline is had been mixed with betta fighter ? For fighting purpose , asian country had been mixed them and then breed back with imbelis , so you wont able to differ them . How about that ? You even dont play imbelis fish in 1980's era which my uncle is a player of imbelis , he can know what color is the best base on what area they come from . In this video imbelis that you used to say original bloodline without mix is totally wrong , look at their body shape , jaws , and dorsal fin that has a red color is sometimes occure in pure bloodline , even in my city in 80's era , we can find super red imbelis , all fins is red include dorsal ... Conclusion is : your sample in this video is mix . But percentage of mix remain in what percentage cannot judge it exactly , as my view still have 12.5 percent mix blood .

  • @BlackwaterAquatics

    @BlackwaterAquatics

    My point was that most imbellis sold online are linebred and have been mixed. The only way to get as close as possible to a pure imbellis is to catch them in the wild. This fish is wild caught, he might and probably have fighter dna in him but compare to many imbellis he is as pure as you can probably get them now.

    @@BlackwaterAquatics if you see it clearly , this fish is not green but slightly grey with black dark skin . Usually we also can see the different from top , their head and mouth is bigger when they have fighter blood . However we cannot determine easily nowadays because they has been cross breed back to imbellis . So they might only have 6.25 percent fighter in their blood ,
