very goood video. I was trying to put a little unicorn in the middle, and make a flat bottom. I think you answered my question, glue it in before you do the second glue up. Thanks, Tommy

Great video! Still trying to wrap my head around the cross. I get that the ends of the trough would be done with either a parting tool or Satan's can opener (skew) but are the arms done further into the wood? I guess I'll try some stuff on the lathe tomorrow to see.

Pretty cool. I've thought a few times how to make a cross that is visible as a cross from all directions. This looks like the answer!

Great video. I would really like to do the inside out with 3 pieces. Can you give me more information on how you setup the table saw?.

I'm confused about how the cross shape was made. Very cool stuff!

Could you use small zip ties to hold the pieces for the first turning?

Not sure they would not rattle with lathe speed and tool applied?

I would not trust them. I have pulled on wires in a bundle held by cable (zip) ties and had the ties come undone. I would hate for one to fail at turning speeds!

Question, is there any reason not to use a lathe chuck in this application? I would think the chuck would be a safer alternative than a drive center.

Probably not. As long as things are on center, the results should be the same.

This is not meant to be a professional made video. These are demonstration videos made by wood turner's trying to educate the viewers on a particular topic. Our club (Hiawatha Woodturner's) records videos also and the guys that are dedicated enough to do the recording of the demo, edit the videos and then upload them are to be congratulated for the efforts in my opinion. Negative comments on the video recording do nothing to improve the intended educational content.

Garry Smith thanks Gary, I’m the video guy and also a retired football coach. I’ve heard many a fan yelling what they would call if they were calling plays. To me, it just another fan in the stand. Somehow this channel has over 1200 subscribers and over 100,000 views. Thanks for those kind words.

If there is interest in some other shapes for Xmas ornaments then maybe you would like to take a look at some I have done in the past with inside out ornaments inside of inside out ornaments turned together. Envisioning the inside while turning can be a challenge when aiming for a certain shape such as a tree. Here's the link kzread.info/dash/bejne/gmd9zrawj7WaebA.html

Some interesting ideas here beyond the standard inside out turning. The audio & video quality really needs improvement - rather hard to watch with both being sub-par.

Chi gestiva quella telecamera sarebbe dovuto prima andare a scuola. Ha sminuito il suo lavoro.
