I get a sense of satisfaction using paste wax on my cars. I think it stems from using them in my youth when the world was less hurried and we had fewer distractions. Never tried these particular high end waxes but I do experiment with the 30ml pots of Angelwax products. Based on experience, the smaller pot will last me a lifetime! Then again, I’m 80!!

Nice job John and nice presentation as you always do!!! I love the VINTAGE one and I have to say that thesse are special products for special cars, special owners and special needs. So we can't discuss about costs or durability or longetivity . In my opinion they represent the (luxury - high society) in their kind, as happens with cars or watches or clothing ect .... Thanks again for your nice video!!!!!!

I think being old school, waxes used to sell themselves on durability and the warm glow and depth of colour. In the summer, like you, I'll apply a wax and have tried many, although it's funny how my wife who is disinterested in the car notices the difference and will comment I've done something different than usual. At the moment I'm using Garage therapy 3cs and sigma for ease of use and it just works giving a great shine and gloss. The wax however has just got that something or edge but doesn't give the longevity, maybe it's me being an old fool but still have a foot planted in both camps

Best of Show is phenomenal. One does have to prepare the paintwork with Swissvax Cleaner Fluid first. I have a classic car and am delighted with the results. I apply by bare hand. The process is enjoyable. I like the video. Thank you.

It is a very good point you make on detergent resistance element of newer chemistry product vs purely organic waxes and that there is still a place for pH neutral products as a result, so as not to undo all the hard work put in waxing (and potentially cost if using an expensive wax). As with everything, it is about choosing the right product for the situation. Mark

If I had a barn full of Packards and Ferraris I believe the price and necessities of these waxes are warranted. For everyday drivers perhaps not so much. The point and theme as John discusses here and humbly from my viewpoint is how these waxes make the paint look. Yes, in that regard, paste wax still rules. Good vid here - proper perspective 👌.

Thank you for this fun video. I grew up using Zamora Concours in the 80’s and 90’s and the results were amazing on old school paint. A lot of other companies tried but no one could match the depth of Concours. With modern paint Concours did not do well which is what got me back into detailing. Recently Indid use Gyeon fluorine wax on my daily driver which sits outside 24/7. I did enjoy the product and water spots were not an issue compared to modern day spray sealants which are sio2 based. These waxes are meant for old school single stage paint and not modern day clear coat. Just for kicks it would have been interesting to see Meguiars #26 in the test and having an old school single stage test panel would be cool too.

I bought a new one in December 2017, after a year I did fusso all over, no on the roof because I'm too lazy🤣. And yesterday I went back to the topic of wax. It holds 3 years and 30k kilometers. It was enough to touch it with the applicator and wipe it with microfiber. Just can't believe

I have one wax I'll always keep in the collection and in my arsenal; Wolfgang Concours Series Fuzion Wax. There simply isn't anything that comes close to the natural glow that wax produces. It's easier to use than any spray detailer on the market and it's usually something I reserve for my more particular customers, a special thank you, or for myself. From the business side of it, I always like products that stand out from the rest. Detailers in South Florida are a dime a dozen now and if you have that one show stopper of a product to give you that special finish only you can achieve, that sets you apart from the group.

are any of them all that much better of a wax than say any of the 100%(or mostly) pure carnuba wax like the one from Meguiar's? I love Meguair's gold was, goes for about 20USD per can here in the states, it goes on fast and is easy off with a buffing wheel and the shine on a high gloss black car just looks soo deep. and the water beading action is epic.

  • @jameswingrove7421
    @jameswingrove74212 жыл бұрын

Personal preference for me is to want a wax that protects the car. But also something that goes on and buffs off easily. I like to get the gloss with polishes and various gloss enhancing sprays, then wax over the top. (Probably doing it wrong), but some durability is a must. And as I work on a rail yard, the car gets covered in ballast dust and fallout from the locomotives so need that tougher protection to stop that contaminating the paintwork.

Last time I applied best of show I remember it lasted 5 months with using there car bath shampoo then I stripped it to apply a different wax. I believe it can hold up to 6months I still prefer wax over coatings and I still believe that waxes gives u a different kind of finish that is not all ways about the gloss. While some coating gives us a glassy mirror glossy shine to me it feels cheap plasticky dulled in my eyes and no depth in color or wetness like some waxes do

On a toy I drive on the weekend and it sits in the garage? I really enjoy he act of waxing or sealing and I am just not that concerned about ultimate protection provided I keep a good sealant and a layer of wax over it.

I have been using ceramics for a bit now but I still love my zymol and there is definitely something that a good wax does to paint that ceramics don't.... Like if I were going to a car show I would go wax all the way... when I apply zymol... I would fully clay the car then polish/hd-cleanse then you can feel pretty safe about applying the zymol by with your bare hands... one you can really quickly tell if you missed a spot on the paint if you feel anything rough which you shouldn't at that point... but also using your hands the wax spreads longer and thinner so you use less... if you rub your hands together really quick it will reheat the wax and you can get a little bit longer application time... zymol is still one of my favorites... the other thing I miss about using waxes... is that as long as the paint is really clean and well maintained you can usually just reapply another coat whenever.... where ceramics its like you really should go through the whole process. ZYMOL's newest version of hd-cleanse added si02 to the mix as well... which is applied before the wax....

Still love wax, loads of sealants and coatings but prefer wax in the summer. For the record I own or have owned, swissvax best of show, migilore primo v1, various low end zymol waxes eventually leading me to purchase a full size zymol vintage (yes at £2.3k) and glasur, i prefer vintage by a long way imo. It is my absolute favourite and it feels far more of an event than other protection products. (waxing in general). Are coatings and even sealants technically superior yes, but having coated cars I got bored lost the love and went back to wax because I love cleaning. I don't think expensive wax should be limited to classics either, my 640d and previous mx5 both got vintage....

The thing that is the value? I think this question can be asked about pretty much everything in life. Why buy Gucci when you can buy primark, why buy a 150k Patek Phillppe when you can buy a 20quid casio. I have bought a couple ofhe Zymöl waxes, Zymöl Volvo and Zymöl Glasur because I can. I even spent £30on HD cleanse. Zymöl is absolutely amazing to use as is their QD. I have a huge range of waxes from durable to out n out show waxes. Each has a personality to put it one way. Zymöl, Swissvax are pure indulgence but I was blown away with the first use. It's not durable no but who cares, it's that much of an experience, quick a d easy to use I'll just rewax! Also an event wax that makes you feel good.

Last time I applied it with a DA polisher using a black finishing pad that had been lightly spritzed with TAC Systems Shinee spray wax as a primer and it looked beautiful. Water repellence was like a ceramic coating on the first few washes until it settle in to a good bead/sheet combination. I took it off after 8 weeks because I wanted to tinker with some other products but it was still going strong. These products are more about giving yourself some kind of 'feel good' moment rather than about the wax characteristics. Maybe I'll try one and be hooked, who knows?

Durability key for me. I'm not sure I would notice these small improvements in gloss levels. I wouldn't use one of these on my Honda Jazz for example. That said, it's a bit like cameras, to get marginal improvements you have to spend many times the price of a merely "good" camera. If I had a Ferrari I might think differently!

So I understand the whole effort that goes in to them and the high grade materials, however what do we all want from protection? Longevity , if a £14.99 wax protects and last as long if not longer then I know which one id go for , however if I was minted then I'd love to have a pot of them , I am still a paste wax guy still can't beat it

Having zymol concourse, school vintage, and some more waxes like fireball, carchem. I tend to say BH Finis is the best wax in the world. Still I keep and even collect some other waxes. But for the all around do it all including looks product - damn Finis rocks hard. I'd love to see Bilthamber doing the next step and introducing a finis quadruple hi-end version with some improvements. Id buy instantly :D So having the best wax in the world name Finis, perfect show wax named Vintage, having zymol concourse at my shelf as the other show wax.. I have also zymol carbon and pinacle souveran in delivery and aiming for some other :D

Supernatural is a cracking wax, just finished a tub last week, lasted several years. I've recently been using In2detailing's ceramic infused wax and that is excellent, because it is so easy to apply (need a bit more elbow grease for the Supernatural). I prefer it over Bilt Hamber's Double Speed wax for the same reason.

I like sn hybrid for a winter wax, it is easy to use and lasts 4-5 months, hard candy is nice to use and smells so mmm, the sn nano wax is so hard it makes it difficult to use imo, my experience with ceramic waxes is that they bead well and last ages but they have all been a pain to buff off making them not something I don't want to use, there are some amazing waxes that are easy to use. Dodo Juice make their waxes in small tubs too so you can experiment and not spend too much, there are loads of collectors out there so you can sell unwanted waxes if you want.

Id love to have a pot of any of them on my shelf, but if I paid £250 for a pot of wax, I think my wife would divorce me . I do love applying wax though, I gave my Dads car a good decon wash last weekend. Its a fairly new car so wasnt to bad, I finished it off with Fusso coat (the old one) and he was well impressed. Reason I used it ? I know it will last him through the winter months, so piece of mind for him. The three waxes on review, for me are dedicated show waxes and not one you would use regular, even if you could afford to. They are the best of the best, so you take your car to a show, you are not gonna apply Fusso coat are you ??

I got told a story expensive wines once......basically they say in the wine world "anything under £10 and your paying for the bottle and the shipping" which basically leaves the wine shite......."anything between £10 -£50 and your getting serious wine" and "anything over £50 your paying for the advertising" Can't remember the exact figures but u get the point. Wine is just grapes......carunba wax, is just carnauba at the end of the day, u can package it up as much as u want but it's still carunba......just a little insight, I will definitely buy the Scholl, the gloss that I see in Ur other video from that wax blew me away and definitely justify a premium price. End of the day, these waxes will probably do 10 cars, so your still getting value
