This song hits me so hard and makes me feel like crying. I was once so guilty of constantly playing the victim of my demons, constantly leaning on my friends. I just waited for others to fix me because I didn't know how to stop the pain myself. But I finally came to realize that I can't rely on others to fix me. Because they can't fix me, they don't have that ability. I needed to brave the frontlines of this war inside me myself. I needed to take charge and work towards an answer that could help me to move forward and live my life. Others could be there to support me if I faltered, but I couldn't give up the fight and sit on the sidelines while others fought my battles for me anymore. I won't deny that I'm still learning to cope with my inner demons, but I also can't deny that I've made a lot of progress. I've learned from my mistakes and I'm stronger than before, even if I don't always feel like it. Thank you, Icon For Hire, for making this song

I’ve been exactly where you are, and I’ve gone through a lot of tough things in my sixteen almost seventeen years. However I had to learn to stand on my own, and be who I am who without fear. This band’s music is part of what helped me find my voice, and for that I’ll always be grateful.

Sami Lopez I recommend using colors from the brand argon oil, you can find it at Sally's, they last way longer than any other brand I have tried. if you aren't blonde lighten your hair first! just in case you are new to hair dye

Dear Icon For Hire, I dint know where to begin. You are amazing. Your music is great. It is so deep. You have no idea how it has helped me and one of my friends(even though my whole small group of friends love you guys), in particular, under the knife, and happy hurts. They are my two favorite songs. You have helped me get through some really tough times. Your music is something that I love and keeps me strong. I have really wanted to say this for some time but didn't have the guts to. You save lives. I look up To you. You deserve to be more well known. Your music is so much better and deeper than other songs on the radio. You save lives and help out a TON of people and probably help more and more everyday. I really just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you! You guys are amazing! Keep up the good work! Even if you don't see i thought i should still post this.... What a beautiful testimony.....

Much of this is exactly how I feel about my best friend of 8 years. "You know I can't make you better, when all you want to be is lost" "It's a brilliant game you play, when you lock yourself away, and make me fight for you" ... Sadly, after a year of struggling to be there for her and constantly being hurt, lashed out at, and feeling pushed away, I had to just end our friendship. I couldn't--and can't--help someone who doesn't seem like they want help or be there for someone who doesn't seem to want me there, AND fight again my own depression and mental illnesses AND try to deal with my severely dysfunctional family. This song hits me hard, even 6 months later, as I sometimes still feel like I abandoned her when I know she's been going through a tough time. But sometimes there's nothing more you can do for someone without completely losing (or drowning) yourself, especially when they don't seem to WANT to get better (or "Get Well"), or want any help.

don't know how your situation is now as i see it's 2 years ago(hope your doing well) but you can't help anyone who doesn't move forwards them self. if you wanne help people and be a pillar for them then you yourself need to have pillars and be strong enough to be of help to them, iif you aren't then you could only make things worde by trying to. good luck

So glad they found a way to get this on the album without getting harassed by tooth and nail really loved perfect storm and I'm glad "war" made it onto the album 💙

This band is just the best. I love supporting them. They make a difference for a lot of people.

Holy shit it's perfect storm! The song she played at home on her piano that couldn't be released. But it's a little different so it's ok. I love this version but the original will always have a special place in my heart. And I'm sure when I sing along to this version I will sing the words of the original! I LOVE PERFECT STORM/WAR!!!

The thing that makes this song so amazing is that it perfectly shows the storm of addiction and relapse. It shows empathy of the addict but the pain of the one who loves them. A masterpiece

Yes, I must admit I've been critical of Icon's new direction, but these two songs are near perfect.

Never have I ever related so much to a song. This song perfectly describes the relationship I have with my best friend. I’m trying so hard to make things work, but nothing seems to be good enough. “It’s a brilliant game you play when you lock yourself away”

Wow. I don't leave many youtube comments, but I felt the need here. Been listening to you guys since 2012 and have been a massive fan, but this might be my favorite song you guys have come up with thus far. Maybe it's because the lyrics that the lyrics hit almost uncomfortably close to home in my own predicament in life right now, but I was blown away by this, especially considering it's a bit different that the rest of what I've heard on this LP so far. You guys are KILLING it, but this was something beyond special. Looking forward to getting my hands physically on the album!

I love this song, there's so much emotion and power behind it, but I honestly think that about all the new songs. I'm so happy and proud that you guys are able to make such amazing music without the pressures and constraints of a record label. Ariel's voice is beautiful.

This song describes a friendship I had a long time ago. We can't save someone who doesn't want to save her/himself. I had to learn that lesson the hard way. To this day, I wonder if she is still alive. When I left, I'd done everything I could to help her, but it wasn't enough. For years, I told myself that if she was dead, it was my fault. But, it wouldn't be. I did all I could, even to the point being dragged down with her. I think this is one of those things we can only learn through experience, and sometimes not even then.

I got into Icon for Hire because they were a good rock/metal band. This isn't that at all, so they alienated me entirely as a fan.
