I'm from Northern Ireland, I protested against the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 and marched repeatedly against the UK's invasion of Iraq. Over the past two decades I've broken down crying repeatedly about the disgusting illegal brutality my country subjected hundreds of thousands of impoverished people to. I can never apologise enough for the war crimes of my country. I tried to protest in every way I possibly could, it was never enough, the Government simply didn't care. Know that Irish people like me have never stopped caring about the desperate plight of Afghans and Iraqis. I hope you, your family and your community flourish in the near future.

Starmers position is nothing new: Blair was very similar in 2006, refusing to call for a ceasfire when Israel invaded Lebanon. Though, to be fair to the labour party, it was this refusal that ultimately led to him having to announce he would stand down the following year.

Good way to increase NHS staffing, cut waiting lists, and lower tuition fees: Free higher education for NHS support staff in areas that benefit the NHS, with a stipulation they then work years in the NHS after. Office workers, HCAs, Porters, Cleaners, IT Techs training to be Nurses, Doctors, Therapists, Phlebotomists, Physios, OTs etc. Huge influx to support staff recruitment, reliable long term staffing for key NHS areas, working in roles and environments that would set them up to better work in the NHS building rapport with staff.

That audience member on QT was absolutely right and it's an issue that is rarely articulated honestly. If you invest in public infrastructure, such as education, it contributes to national income and encourages private sector investment. It's a win win scenario. If the ICC issues an arrest warrant under a treaty to which the UK has signed, should that person arrive in the UK, will border security arrest that person? That’s a yes/no question. I bet they wouldn’t be so mealy mouthed if they had been asked about arresting any of those other warrants for the non-Israelis. Much less equivocal about the Putin warrant.

Labour deliberately skewers itself on economics. They are controlled opposition for the establishment. But the bloke in the Question Time audience saying invest in the education system and that will reduce the budget deficit, people really have no idea what they're talking about. Investment means spending. And with Labour's fiscal rules, they will not be able to invest adequately in anything and they know this, because the commitment to the fiscal rules will prevent this. Not only this, the fiscal rules will be almost impossible to abide by anyway, because they will impose austerity, which will see tax revenue fall through the floor slide the budget into deficit with increased welfare payments as lay offs in the labour force occur. I know economics is viewed as a mystical art form, and deliberately made so by the elites, but the idea that we all sit around going Tory austerity is terrible, so we'd better vote Labour, is plainly stupid. Austerity is austerity and Labour have been obsessed with this fictional economics since the 70s, it's not something that is new to Starmer. Even Corbyn's agenda played to the fictional frame of scarcity of British pounds. Where do pounds come from? If you said firms you'd be wrong, but let's follow your logic, where did the firms get the pounds from? The households? Taxpayers? It's a circular argument. The only source of British pounds is the British Treasury and they are spent into existence when Treasury instructs the BoE to credit reserve accounts. Nothing more, nothing less. As Aaron hints, Labour's performance across the board is a pantomime, they refuse to adopt economics of the real world, because they ultimately bat for capital.

Gonna sound like a bit of a asshole and i am truly sorry but can we have a weekly round up of gaza news rather than it being once a day, ukraine didn't get as much coverage as it does. part of me just wants a whole episdoe dedicated to domestic news now election season is in full swing. like today's episode doesn't even touch on theresa may and all the other tories standing down next election and the fact reform don't have enough members to claim seats in only a few seats. all im saying, do the segments on the day but have it seperate from the normal news because its every day and taking up time for other news that is also important to everyday people like if you want 1 hour of gaza and one hour of domestic news, i can 100% get on board for that! :)

It is unacceptable to punish children for any error you think their parents might be making. The world average birthrate stands at 17 per 1,000 people. I think we can withstand a few people having more than two children, since so many are choosing to have one or none.

@@AtheistEve It's not a question of the world though, we're talking about the UK. Unless you are suggesting we send our addition & redundant births overseas. The UK is already WAY beyond its level of a sustainable population, & WAY beyond it's finite resources such as housing, healthcare, education etc. It's not racist, nor Right wing, to accept that & choose to work towards sustainability instead. You can't have constant growth economically, you can't have constant growth of population, & you can't have constant growth of the welfare state financing irresponsible parties poor lifestyle choices. Those are just facts, no prejudices involved.
