⁠- it took me a while to get over my emotions because of this, too. So I will try to explain, because it helped me. South Africa was done standing by twiddling their thumb, so they jumped into action- some of the bravest souls of our time- and tried to strategize. But a court case is meant for ‘justice.’ It’s meant to punish the cowardly criminals. They used this as a tool to add in that because it is a crisis, that it needs provisions in place to prevent further immense murders. And gave a ton of compelling evidence. The court then had no choice but to say, yeah, it does look like there’s a case here. However, they can’t just hand out a sentence, or a verdict without the trial actually occurring. Therefore, they said the most they can, which was to spell out ceasefire but in provisions and steps which add up to a stop to the violence. The cowardly state is also obligated to provide -within a month- evidence of all the steps taken to ensure the ending of this violence.

But how is it that Hamas has not yet been brought before the ICJ for their crimes of October 7th; for usung their own citizens as human shields; for using schools and hospitals as ammunition depots; and for building their tunnels directly under civilian buildings, etc. Something does not add up here.

No court in the world that can RULE that you have no right to protect yourself not even against a Terrorist entity.

Gaza has been a prison camp since 2006. The West Bank is a full apartheid area with separate buses, schools, and streets that can only be accessed by Israeli people. The ICJ ruling says that there are facts and plausible cause and actions of genocide. Israel will now have to defend itself against this ICJ's initial ruling. Monthly checks and monitoring for future genocidal acts will take place and countries cannot send weapons to Israel without complicity in genocide.

It's a legal process, it's important to be thorough and methodical. This decision was the first hurdle in the case against Israel, the question of whether the claim had merit. If the claim had no merit, the case would end there. The ICJ found it did have merit. So now the case can move forward and the case can be determined and the perpetrators punished. This isn't the ruling on whether Israel has committed genocide, its just the first step in ruling whether claiming they have committed genocide is baseless or not worthy of the court's resources. Israel has every right to defend themselves. They made thousands of phone calls, sent millions of text messages and dropped leaflets basically telling the Hamas where they were they were going to attack. They gave instructions on where to get to safety and where to get food and water. Hamas and the Palestinians are to blame for the loss of civilian lives.

I didn't see any of that in the ruling? I did see the court ordered Hamas to release all Israeli hostages immediately though.

​@@NuManXploreNo state has the right to defend itself from its own victims. If's not "defence" when you are the aggressor, which Israel is. Hamas took hostages as leverage as part of their fight to stop Israel's killing and kidnapping of Palestinians that happens every single day. Israel has always been the aggressor, and have lied constantly about their crimes, pretending they didn't do anything to the rest of the world. They know very well what they do and what they've done.
