Ichthyosaur Rib Cage | Fossil Hunter
Here is another video from one of our fossil hunts, make sure to stick around the end of the video to see the special fossil at the end! This time, a shale-preserved scattering of Ichthyosaur bones, along with a belemnite! This is an insight into the past, what life was like 180 Million Years Ago even before many of the most famous land-dwelling Dinosaurs ever existed. Now, turned to stone, these fossils are falling from their stoney resting place of the cliffs and onto our beaches.

The ammonites you collect remind me of the fossil ghost crabs I find here between Indian Harbor Beach and Patrick Air Force Base of Brevard county, Florida at low tide. Fun to find these little critters but can be rare at times. Ever come here to the beaches here, you might be lucky.
Enjoyed this one so much! I need to stop being shy and comment more. I now understand it helps out with good exposure and engagement is a plus!💜
Fantastic video Aaron, those Ichthyosaur bones are superb and top quality! Cant beat the sound of the gulls on the beach, strangely soothing to me at least.

Thank you Liam, can't beat some verts with spaghetti looking ribs laid across! I quite like the sound of the birds too, as well as the sea
Them ribs were amazing and nice fossil shell 😁
Wow that drill thingie was extremely satisfying to watch. So was the blowing thingie.... 🤣🤣 I mean getting the technical words isn’t needed...right! Awesome finds!!
Another good one guys! That last fossil block was amazing.
Thank you for showing how you prepare your finds for presentations.

incredible!
I wish I could split the nodules as good as you do. Me and my other half are new to fossiling we love it but our extraction methods are bit hit and miss . My mum suggested that I use an axe to get in one nodule so I did. Result was a ruined fossil and a cut thumb but it learned me a lesson. Thanks for the informative videos we really enjoy them

You're most welcome, opening the nodules is something we've carefully learnt over around a decade, so takes time to perfect! We've never tried an axe
Great video guys , makes me want to get back there and crack some nodules. The bone block is incredible. Just started doing a little prepping with a Dremel electric engraver cheap alternative and does seem to work to a certain degree ,

Awesome video my friend.👍🏻 Your prep equipment is amazing with the engraving pen and the sandblasting machine. I haven't had the opportunity to buy these types of prep equipment so far. I just have a cheaper engraving machine (to prep some ammonites from German quarries). Keep up your work. Greetings from Germany

Hi! I'm in York not far from you 🙂 love your vids, just getting into fossil hunting since I loved it as a kid. Wondered if you help with fossil identification at all please? (Might not even be a fossil, just a pretty rock😂) thanks!

Wow that’s an awesome bone fossil. Great vid. Thanks for sharing more excellent content. That shell fossil was really cool 😎 Some nice ammonites . Too bad the last one wasn’t more. Do you guys have a nickname name for the nodules that turn out to be blanks?

What is the name of the hammer you have? That exact one seems super good for cracking nodules open.
I got to get out and look for fossils. I live in Los Angeles and besides the tar pits i have to travil a bit to look for fossils.

I've always wanted to find ammonites and belemnites by myself, but I live in Ontario. Have you found any trilobites in your area?
Where is this beach? Or any beaches you go too, i do photography and would love to take pictures of the coast and cliffs x
Wow! how long does it take to prepare that?

@@YorkshireFossils Wow! I figured because you really did a good job getting in behind most of them!
In between your left finger and thumb at 7 04 in the video it looks like they may have been another vert just under the shale

Ada energi supranatural
I asked in another video but do you guys aquire permits for that or is it just open season for anyone to just go out there and forage for fossils... I am interested in foraging and collecting specimens especially if I find something research grade to donate for science.

So long as they are loose from the cliff and shale beds (i.e. not in-situ) and it’s not an SSSI site, then it is okay to collect fossils responsibly.

do you give away any of the fossils
