For 28 professional seasons, no BS and no drama, just pure passion, dedication and respect for the game of baseball. Should be a model for any kid picking up the game for how to maximize your gifts and skills. One of the all-time greats and I was lucky to have watched him play in both Japan and MLB.

Babe Ruth, Rickey Henderson, Barry Bonds and Ichiro Suzuki. If he had played his first 9 yrs in the MLB instead of Japan, he would arguably be the greatest hitter of all time. What multiple careers and what a player, a once in a lifetime player that I was lucky enough to witness in real time. Now we get to see players like Shohei because Ichiro paved the way.

Indeed very emotional. I was crying at the end when all the Mariners players were hugging and congratulating him, but I lost it when the second to last Mariners player to hug him (who was also Asian, Japanese?) looked at Ichiro with so much respect, hugged Ichiro, then also cried. What a class act and amazing athlete Ichiro is.

I was lucky enough to see him play in Seattle and Baltimore. Thank you Ichiro for giving us Mariner fans something to cheer for at every single one of your at bats.

A number of years ago the Seattle Mariners came to Portland to play an exhibition game with the Portland beavers PCL team. During batting practice I watched Ichiro stroke a ball into the balcony of the Multnomah athletic club. it may have been the equivalent of Mickey Mantle hitting one off the façade in the Yankee stadium or Reggie Jackson during the All-Star game nearly hitting one out of Tiger Stadium! The only other person I know that did this was Willie Stargell when the Pirates came to play an exhibition game in Portland and the owner of the Portland club was handing out $100 bills for every home run the major leaguers hit! Ichiro had a batting technique unlike any other baseball player I’ve ever seen. It was so smooth and so efficient and often times ugly if he missed in grounded out to the pitcher or something like that. It didn’t matter, he was Ichiro!

MLB fan from afar (Australia), I've been lucky enough to watch quite a few games over the years, ok about 10 or 11, I think it's 11? Hard with the travel time... Ichiro is the one of the players I tried to watch, but missed. three times! Once in Seattle and twice with the Marlins. Really wished I could have watched him. But as an aside, the Braves, my not so secret fav team, got to watch Maddux, Smoltz and Chipper Jones....that was expensive few weeks, but glorious! Smoltz was just awesome that last night! Best crowd!

His rookie MLB season was the year I was born. My family has been Mariners fans since the beginning of the team, and Ichiro was something special. He’s been my favorite player in the League since his debut when I was 3 months old and he still is. He’s the reason I love baseball and he gave us Mariners fans a reason to keep watching. My dog that I got for my 1st was named Zuki after Ichiro Suzuki. He will continue to be my favorite athlete of all time not just because of his athletic accomplishments, but because he’s a great person as well. I knew it had to happen at some point, and I’m glad this is the way he closes his career. Thank you Ichiro.

Some say you shouldn't count the 1,278 hits with his career total. Fact is, he hit the ball in play 3,089 times in MLB and batted extremely well into his 40s. Sure, his BA went down after he hit 37 but what player DOESN'T start to wind down as they get older? He played 8 years in Japan. You put him in the MLB for those 8 extra years, he becomes the All-time hit leader. He's a 1st ballot HOF, no doubt.

Amazing how this skinny little guy turned out to be one of greatest players in the history of major league baseball, we may never see a player this talented again for a long, long time. It was an honor to watch him play.

The fact Mariner fans took time to learn tidbits of japanese to send Ichiro off in his final game speak volumes to how much Seattle loved this man as an individual

I watched Ichiro's last game of his entire career a couple months ago at spring training and for years I have been trying to get his autograph and I finally got it at his last game ever. he is the absolute 🐐

My heart swells with pride for all of Japan. We were blessed here in America to get to watch him play for so many years.

No matter which team you support, or whether you like baseball at all, you just can't hate on Ichiro Suzuki. Not only is he one of the most skilled in terms of speed, hits, as well as catching and jumping, with a powerful laser beam throwing arm, but he works hard and stays humble. Truly a God of baseball.

Ichiro is the best baseball player for me. I had watched him in Japanese TV when I was a child. He is my hero, but I had never seen him in my eyes. His career ended, I got a last chance to see him. I entered Tokyo dorm and saw Ichiro, that sightseeing will never be forgotten by me. Thank you lchi, my hero is our hero!! I am Japanese and my English isn’t good, but I want share with you. Thanks to watching my letter.

Fun fact about Ichiro was that in his first game in the MLB the Mariners beat the Okaland Athletics 5 to 4 and his final game, the Mariners beat the Athletics 5 to 4. What a way to end a career

the definition of class and respect notice when he's gunning someone out he turns his back and walks back to his position when he hits the dinger off rivera he looks out at right field while rounding first He showed up a lot of major leaguers but never showed it.. from his first year in the bigs he became my favourite not only present but of all time damn shame he couldn't have started in the majors 5 years earlier and legitimately shattered Cobb and Roses hitting records Ichiro is truly one of a kind

Ichiro was the reason I got into baseball when I was like 8 and playing the MLB games. I'd watch a game and try to remake it. Ichiro and Joe Mauer are my all time favorites and I couldn't even fully explain it lol. Gotta love ichiro.

Ted Williams. Imagine his career numbers if he didn't lose 4 prime seasons serving our country during war. Ted was the greatest pure hitter ever combined with power. But Ichiro is definitely one of the greatest ever, no doubt.

Not really, a whole lot of Latin American players were playing in MLB long before Ichiro. And there were a number of Japanese pitchers, notably Hideo Nomo, to come before Ichiro as well. He was probably the best foreign born player ever, and one of the best overall players ever, but hardly the first.

Can you imagine having tens of thousands of fans clapping and cheering for you as you come off the field for the final time. My God, I don't think I could handle it. Id break down in tears and have to have my teammates walk me off with my arms over their shoulders.

Mr. Suzuki, ohh yeahh.. long leg catlike speed and long arm throwing and long arm hit after hit after wicked hit. he operates at cheetah speed when tracking the incoming pitch of futility cat speed as he closes in from the field, snares the prize, and rockets it from his toes to his fingertips to third base and a stunned runner.

Ichiro will always be one of my favorite baseball players of all time. Even though I am a Royals fan there is no denying Ichiro is one of the all time greats to play the game

This was a random recommendation for me. I do not watch or follow baseball. But I do salute anybody that has dedicated many years in whatever field they have chosen. It looks like from this video he is somewhat of a quality player and helped change the landscape of baseball. So to that.. thumbs up

Technically not due to the fact that Big Unit had inducted as a Diamondback. That's how people usually depict that because of how the HoF is.
