Fun fact: In the manga, the scene where old man Zangetsu tries to tell him his name, the page just shows a blacked out rectangle in place of the word. HOWEVER, many years later, when the anime adapted this scene, they had to have the voice actor for Zangetsu say something. The name he says is mostly garbled, but if you listen closely it ends with the syllable “ha”, which is the last syllable of Yhwach’s name in Japanese “Yu-ha-ba-ha”. This has led some people to theorize that Kubo had decided on Yhwach’s role in the story and his name as far back as the airing of this episode of the anime, and it’s a crazy bit of foreshadowing if true.

It's not a theory. He was a quincy for all this time. That's why he was losing against Grimmjow, but matching Kenpachi and Byuakuya with his fake bankai. Quincy are vulnerable to hollows. When he puts mask on he can nullify that weakness.

Not necessarily true. Ukitake gave Ichigo the combat pass to turn into a soul reaper which I believe only let him use 20% of his power, just like how captains and lieutenants have to do before going into the living world. That may be why Ichigo became weaker at the start of the arrancar arc.

@@thomasmc7914 it's not working like that. He's not wearing his pass outside of his body. Its use was explained by Ginjo - it controls his reatsu when he's in human body. Ichigo didn't became weaker, he was at the same peak speed dodging Grimmjow, but he was unable to pierce him.

And all the captains and lieutenants have gentai kaijo to limit reiatsu so that they don’t affect the world of the living. Ichigo surely would have to have some sort of limit on his reiatsu to prevent him from influencing people and souls in the world of the living. And the only way I can see them doing that is through the combat pass as I can’t see it coming from anywhere else as he doesn’t have the gentai kaijo mark.

Not necessarily true. His zanpaktou is completely hollowfied. Considering his dad's getsuga tenshous were flames his zanpaktou was most likely a fire based zanpaktou too but since it got hollowfied, the flame attacks were combined with low level ceros and since yhwach spirit was pretending to be his zanpaktou, the colour was black like yhwachs clothes. When he unlocked his true zanpaktou he still retained every racial power that was in him. Its just that he deicide to use it in a shinigami way hence a quincy sword, and the mask wasn't there anymore.instead it was his vasto lorde horn. Meaning his true shikai was vastolorde+his full bring + his dangling combined into one making it as strong or stronger than final getsuga tenshou form

True, but I think ichigo should have had a lot more red ribbons since he's half shinigami. So him only finding one red ribbon _might_ be foreshadowing that old man Zangetsu was suppressing all of his shinigami powers and only a single red ribbon could escape. Or as you said, it could not mean anything since white ribbons are for everyone other than shinigamis.

In my opinion it's just because in that situation, turning him into a Quincy wasn't an option, it was either turning him into a Soul Reaper or letting him become a Hollow. To explain this, let me ask you 2 questions. First, why did that situation even allow Ichigo to turn into a Soul Reaper, how does it make sense that just finding his Soul Reaper powers within his soul would just stop the Hollowfication process, partially reverse it and then make Ichigo a Soul Reaper instead ? Second, how would Urahara even know of such a possibility ? I mean, it's not like he ever had other cases of people with latent Soul Reaper power... The answer is pretty simple: White Zangetsu. Ichigo's Hollow and Soul Reaper powers merged, making them pretty much one and the same. As such, bringing out his Hollow side would inevitably bring out his Soul Reaper side at the same time. That's why, in that moment, Ichigo seems to be Hollowfying like a Soul Reaper does instead of becoming a Hollow like a normal Plus. From there, all Ichigo had to do was to tip the scale in favor of his Soul Reaper powers, which is what OMZ directed Ichigo to do by having him find his Soul Reaper power within his soul. That's precisely what Urahara, aware of Ichigo's upbringing and expert in Hollowficatin had planned, he knew the Soul Reaper and Hollow powers would have merged, and as such bringing one out would also make the other surface.

Isnt that because Ichigo would end up like his mother?

So why zangetsu said '' you still cant hear my name'' it wasnt because ichibei erased 'yabahaba' name so zangetsu couldnt know it, it was because ichigo's shinigamin powers were still dorment.

Crazy how since 2006 we all thought that old man was helping Ichigo when he was the main villain the whole time.

Always talking about Quincy, Fullbringer, Soul Reaper but never explaining what it is. 😂

I mean. He was always a quincy. His quincy powers were trying to suppress his other abilities and failing. That's pretty much it. Zangetsu, or white, was basically trying to get Ichigo to understand this. While his quincy side was essentially poisoning the well with lies or misunderstandings while pretending to be Zangetsu. Until at the end of the series he unified all his abilities. Every time the old man showed up. He was basically trying to convince Ichigo to suppress his Solo Reaper powers but when he would suppress them. Then his Holo powers would basically take its place. That's what triggered his initial holoification. One big balancing act. It's also why Ichigo could never really fully control his Solo Reaper abilities. The constant rejecting of white without ever realizing he was actually rejecting Zangetsu. If you remember. When he asked the Old Man his name. It was blurred out.

This makes a lot of sense haha, but I think if ichigo had taken the white Quincy ribbon then nothing would have happened on the surface. Ichigo would have had all of his shinigami powers suppressed and his Quincy powers would be dormant until ywach wakes up. At this point he would be ywachs successor.

personally id argue that any normal humans spirit ribbons is white, not just quincies. Quincies are just gifted humans who learned how to fight Hollows not an entirely different entity. They use reishi which is an external energy. Soul reapers ribbons are probably red because they use Reiatsu which is an internal energy. But that's just my assumption anyway.

Quincy powers are passed through Yhwach blood. Ichibe has the power to take away people's name through his zanpakuto. In the past Ichibe took away Yhwach's name. Although I'm a little confused on how that didn't affect the existing human quincys on earth.

@@User5hdbh Yhwach killed most quincies beforehand through the blood clots as he was resurrecting through the ancestral power of his blood, absorbing most of the various quincy powers. He then gave Ishida his blood to drink to join him in the throne, power him up, etc.

Supposedly cannot ... Ichigo's Quincy power has been tainted by Hollow power, that's why Ichigo doesn't got hit by Auswalen nor his Bankai can be stolen by the medalion ... BUT, somehow Masaki (Ichigo's mom) got hit by Auswalen eventhough she has been poisoned by Hollow ... Maybe because in Ichigo's case, the Quincy and Hollow power are merged due to Fullbring factor, while in Masaki's case, her Quincy power still separated and with the Hollow poison inside her ...

And the second one is that quincies don't have white spirit ribbons, everybody except shinigami have white spirit ribbons. Quincies are still humans therefore they have white spirit ribbons just like normal humans.

Ichigo couldn't access his Quincy powers for two very clear reasons. One is that from the jump white has been a stronger influence on ichigo then old man zangetsu, old man zangetsu cannot maintain control over ichigos inner world unless ichigo is directly cooperating with him if it's left up to just white and old man zangetsu OMZ gets kicked out of the driver's seat. Ichigo is also not a pure blood quincy he's less then half and as we can see the purity of your Quincy blood has a dramatic effect on your innate strength as a quincy. Uryu at the start of the series is probably weaker then a soldat with access to the same training from an older wiser mentor that both ryuken and Masaki had access to . Masaki at the same age as uryu as an echt quincy had enough power to insta kill white who overwhelmed Isshin who went on to put the brakes on aizen. Ichigo has less quincy in him then uryu and unlike his shinigami powers his Quincy powers aren't amped by his hollow powers. Ichigos quincy powers are suppressed as a result of the dilution of his genetics and the fact that shinigami traits are much more apparent in the form of a sentient spirit that can exist inside of your soul seperate from you long before you become a shinigami ie white and hyorinmaru existing before their wielders had zanpakuto. quincy don't have inner world's either, so everything was pointing to shinigami/hollow as ichigos engine and then he uses his Quincy powers to regulate the output of said engine.

Yeap, he had to choose...and in the end, he picked all of them. O-o he is the only one to be a "mix breed" Shinigami.
