Iceland: 12 Rules for Life Tour: Lecture 1

There are two videos from Iceland, covering different material. This is the first. The second is at (TBA).
I have been touring since January, discussing my books, 12 Rules for Life and, to a lesser extent, Maps of Meaning (see www.jordanbpeterson.com/events for details, including upcoming tour dates and cities.
I was in Iceland in June and gave two lectures (June 04, Lecture 1; June 05, Lecture 2), followed by a Q and A. I was hosted by Gunnlaugur Jonsson, who also introduced both talks.
I've been using the lectures as an opportunity to extend, develop and publicly test the ideas I presented in 12 Rules and Maps of Meaning.
My wife Tammy and I had a remarkable and memorable trip to Iceland. My mother and aunt also came for the adventure, and were treated with exceptional care by Gunnlaugur and his crew. We are looking forward to returning to Iceland in 2019,
Thank you very much to Halldór Fannar Kristjánsson (Sigurgeirsson) for the video recording and editing.

About half a year ago I got a new home after living for years above an abusive land lord. After all those years of stress and anxiety I really didn't have much energy left to fix up my new home, because about everything needed doing: laying floors, painting walls, painting doors, etc. I couldn't see through all the work that needed doing and I became pretty desperate about whether I would be able to get anything done at all. And then I found Jordan Peterson and his videos and his book. He really taught me to carry my load and move forward to a place of betterment. I still haven't fixed everything that needed fixing and I'm a slow worker but I'm been trying to move forward inch by inch as best as I can manage and there were some complications as well but I don't think I would've gotten as far as I've got without the encouragement of Professor Peterson. My deepest thanks for your work sir.

I love Peterson's talks. He is misportrayed by the mainstream liberal left because he challenges the status quo. In order for the status quo to remain the status quo they can't have intelligent, free thinking, healthy individuals questioning the typical narrative. As he discusses in his talks the platform for long narrative discussions is great for engaging a well informed intelligent audience who is able to discuss important "controversial" topics with an open mind. Question everything, may peace be with us all.

How about a life enriching public discourse, producing words of harsh truth but loving encouragement, freely shared for the purpose & intent that globally, human beings, world-wide, view & receive, fundamentally, clear, more correct & accurate, conceptional grasp of reality? Producing a valuing & knowledge of exactly what ones "truth", moral values, beliefs actually are. hopefully producing a personal positive intercourse. understand, unaware is the nicest observation to respond to critical ignorance

Jordan is my hero. I'm 60 years old. He has explained the quest of a man's life. If his lectures were available, in 1972. When I was 12 years old. My life would have been less painful. And the difficult times would have had more clarity and would have had a answer. I'm not a follower. Jordan has taken my ideas from the last 15 years. Spoke them out loud. I've been saying this for years....we needed an Alpha Male to be heard. Nobody listened to me. They listen to him. Not a follower....side by side. We walk side by side.

Every video I watch, I learn more about myself, and my family, friends, coworkers etc. Learning to repeat what others say to me in head has been the number one change in my life, and has helped me take the time to understand their meaning and motives. Thank you Dr. Peterson. I have five children, and four are boys. And I find between your lectures, and studying stoicism, it has allowed me to clearly see myself and those around me.

seth street I listened very carefully Then I moved into my sisters room and was so disagreeable she went and cleaned mine for me. Ok, not actually true, but that’s a tactic and mode of thought which is not entirely incongruous with my favourite reminder’s (herr doktor professor Peterson is not a leader, he’s an articulate conscience) messages. Except that I always feel like a heel afterwards Not enough sociopath in me. I have to fake it.

So, I opened your page on KZread, watched a video, and wrote mom a 3-page letter, and now am going to not avoid what I’ve been terrified to face. Thank you always

I've been watching JBP for a couple of years now. He is not a one trick pony. He grows and improves and develops his narratives into more complex and inclusive and cogent stories. This is one of the best presentations he has ever given. It has many elements that he has offered before but ties more levels together and his exposition is cleaner and more clear. Keep it up Jordan. You are doing so much good for the set of all possible tribes.

I especially enjoyed when you explained the aftermath of your interview on Ch.4 and how you lay out your talks mentally. Anyway, what I really need to say is and what struck me last night while listening was that you're fighting all our fight, dont let your opponents get you/your family down, deal with the stress and dont make it worse by arguing among yourselves. In time it gets much easier and more people wiłl join you. Much Love, 😇😈
