Bought a 12 volt refrigerator/freezer four years ago this October. It isn't a dual zone, but runs very quiet on the maximum setting. The refrigerator is kept between 31° ~ 32° F., which is how I enjoy my drinking my whole milk. I don't even know what brand I purchased.

Needs an exterior soft insulation bag and this would be spot on great. Not a fan of metal latches of this type but gets the job done, absolutely.
I upgraded to that dc plug. Best money spent. Stays in the 12v outlet, unlike the red tip one. I'm glad they are including it.
I recently purchased one through their indiegogo. $529 with batterry and no tax!
My APL35 arrived a few days ago and I am very pleased with the appearance and features. I ordered the cover to help protect the aluminum exterior and for a little bit of extra insulation. I also have the JP30 w/cover. Thank you for this excellent review!
Sweet! Glad Hobo got his gloves on this one. I pulled the trigger and picked this up super early bird. Glad to get the 411.
Iceco, I would prefer a separate lid for each compartment. I ditched my older Dometic for dual-zone AND two lids, on that factor alone.

My Iceco VL75 Pro has two lids, but cost $1000. It’s black and so cool looking. I love it, but I’ve wanted one this size for my smaller van I’m now in. I’m pet sure I’d get this dented up in no time.
.1 and Counting to 200K and you should be way ahead of this in my book 📕 I hope by the end of the day we see it. Thumbs up 👍 for your work.
Of my 6 compressor fridge/freezers, the Iceco 21l dual zone with removable partition and Bluetooth is my favorite. 4 years trouble free.

Nice. I almost bought the go20 but it was just a little bit too short and narrow to be really usable for a several day trip. So I went for the Ecoflow Glacier
Dividing wall takes up precious space. Thank you Hobo.
That’s one sharp mini fridge! ICECO did a good job with this one. The aluminum interior looks easier to keep clean than plastic as well.
Great review. Thanks HOBO
Great Vid! Almost 200K!
Wow- this is really great-thank you!
Thanks - Just ordered with cover too.
8:40 Highly impressed by your ultra-modern, high-end time keeping tooling! Well done 😁
We really need a head-to-head challenge between BougeRV Rocky series and ICECO APL series.
Thanks for the review! Was set on getting Iceco VL35 ProS with removable, dual side lid as my 1st minivan fridge. This is lighter! And just a touch smaller on the outside. Like the seal and dual zone features and lack of plastic.
I have the APL55 and apl20. I would have bought the 35 for sure over the 20 if I was buying one for now. Both are awesome fridges. Never going back to coolers
Love that lid! Clamping and holds itself. Just wish had an indicator on top to show it’s running.
Love your vids ❤ as well as making me laugh at times lol😂
Great intro sfx!
Thanks 🎉🎉
I like everything about this, EXCEPT for the external power brick for AC connection.

Besides my Iceco, l have that one, also.
After your breakdown on the Iceco, I poked around and bought one. Not the dual zone, but a larger single zone. Will be backup to my RV fridge. Getting the list all crossed off, for the land yacht to be ready. She's got new shoes, and most all the bugs are shaken out of it. After a trip (cheap, I am sure!) to Cummins for service of engine and genny, will finally get Henrietta Hippo trundling around the West.. Only big project remaining is solar and new big batteries..... have to lay off for a while for that, been sorta setting fire to piles of cash!
O havec2 of the Iceco 20xs And love them. Wife has one in her 4 Runner and uses it for grocery shopping. We live in the country in Texas, so her grocery shopping days can take all day. This is the size I wish they had when I bought ours. Granddaughter uses the other one for her camping trips in Colorado.

I had the GO20 and gave it to my son. Loved it but needed a bit more room. I bought the APL35 with cover and have a JP30 with cover.
Just got one!
Great looking product and review... But when doing temp check, it's best to put something in the freezer...air doesn't freeze. I'd fill it with water bottles or bags of beans
What a great unit. If I didn’t have the JP40 already, I would get it. Dual zones is what I have been waiting for. Do wish it were 40L. I seem to need all 40 for my trips. Thanks.

They make a 55 little version of the APL. Amazing fridge.
I’m considering one of those types for if the grid goes down.
Feature request from ICECO #1 build dual fans into the lid. This will help cool down or freeze food considerably faster. App controlled of course #2 include a paper template to scale so we can add insulation panels or fabric to the outside without interfering with the units cooling needs but increasing its efficiency #3 include a 12/24v power cable with crimped connectors for hardwiring the fridge. It does look beautiful and I’m sure the aluminum would hold up great in the marine saltwater environment as well. The light weight has me wondering though. 2 extra inches of insulation on all sides helps tremendously to keep compressor cycling low and energy consumption to a minimum. 👍👍

Fridges use a lot of battery. Question? Does a 120v ice maker use less battery power when combined with an efficient cooler? The benefit of an ice maker is that you always have ice for drinks. I would love to see your take on this. Keep up the good work! Cheers.
Nice construction, but I really think the changemore you reviewed and I purchased, is a better buy, and the changemore Has an optional battery with solar input. We use the battery all the time.

Changemore? Haven't heard of this. I'm gonna look out up if this isn't an autocorrect issue haha
Thanks for the video, it answered several questions i had. The reflective properties of this unit seem to help in keeping this cool. Will a cover help insulate it or will the cover make the reflectiveness less effective?
Likes like a SetPower PT35 with upgrades 👌 Just dont like latches - prefer the type on the SetPower.
Next, GLOCK TEST! heh heh heh I'm thinking I will pick one up, supplement my motorhome fridge on longer trips.
I like that fridge, I wonder how Dometic, ARB, Engel sales are going? I just checked and their fridges are around $1200-$1700 now. not worth it by any means considering you don't use these fridges that often. The price on this fridge is really really good.
Love it but it's just too big for this weekender. Can you recommend anything smaller? I'd really love to find a tiny freezer with it's own battery that I can swap out while the other one charges.
Hi Tom, here in the UK a van dweller is using a 240v fridge running off a smart inverter, as a household fridge is cheaper the a 12v compressor fridge, when the fridge gets to temperature it cuts off the smart inverter so it's not running all the time, could you try a test like this ? Thank you 👍
This would be great for harvesting organs
Great retro-looking fridge/freezer with the aluminum shell 👍. No bottle opener on it!? Everything that comes along these days seems to have a damn built-in bottle opener. 🤪

FYI. Your contactless IR thermometer has to be set for the color it is checking for accurate measurements, I have serious doubts that is is set for a silver color and expect the temp reading was less than accurate. Still a great video and thanks again for all your reviews.

Have you had occasion to look at the vevor fridges and dual zones? I searched the channel and only found the bougie ones...but youtube search is...hopeless.
Have you reviewed the Bluetti cooler?
How's the compressor noise compare to Dometic CFX3? I have the Dometic and wish it were a little quieter than it is.
FYI, while this sandblasted style aluminium is better at this, metals and reflective material are (generally) very inaccurate with no-contact thermometers. What i usually do with things like server and computer chassis is put a piece of black electrical tape on the spot i want to measure, let it sit for a minute or 2, then measure from the tape and i often get a vastly different temperature. Sometimes its hotter than bare metal reradings, sometimes its cooler, because what i was actually measuring was a reflection from say the wall behind the device, or the exhaust of another server, and the surface was actually warmer/cool to than the thermometer was measuring. Edit, i'm not saying that these measurements were off, but they could be.
@HOBOTECH

Yep, several others already complained about this test. I assure you the metal wasn't hot to the touch so 90F was probably very close. I think folks are ignoring the results and focusing too much on minutiae.

DENT TEST! DENT TEST!
If I recall correctly, it can be problematic taking an IR temperature reading from a reflective surface. I've seen folks applying non-reflective tape to a reflective surface to get a more accurate temperature reading. Maybe white tape would do the trick if you're measuring temperature of a reflective surface in the sun?

These things gets heavy/bulky, so if you need both a fridge and a freezer, and can effort and have the space, lol, perhaps buy two small instead?

No one is ever happy with this test. Some say full, half full, or empty. I'm doing empty from now on because it's worst case and tests the insulation and compressor the most. If you fill with food from a deep freezer the compressor won't kick on for hours. That's not an accurate test.
@johnc3225
25 күн бұрын
Sounds logical!
Doesn't aluminum transfer heat and cold very efficiently, thus making it easy to heat up in the heat and harder to stay cold? And won't the outside get hot if it's outside in the heat? Plastic is less efficient and thus holds the cold better because it doesn't hold heat. I'm I wrong about this? Edit: your outdoors test answered my question! Nice to know you're in Arizona. Edit 2: come to Phoenix and a day test in the sun.
@HOBOTECH
25 күн бұрын
Without explaining the physics, metal both heats and cools faster. The fact it is reflective and thin acts like a heat shield. It doesn't actually absorb and hold heat like thick plastic. They used very thin gold sheets on the Apollo missions to protect the capsule from direct heat of the sun.
The extra 2 pounds was probably including the packaging.

I would be interested in this unit if I didn’t have such a bad experience with my first one dying on me, and the absolutely frustrating experience of getting ICECO to replace it. The replacement unit doesn’t work well, I suspect it will soon be dead because it’s having a hard time keeping 0 degrees, fluctuating up to 24 F in the shade. (It is used in a class A RV on a slide in the basement bay, powered by 120 volts ac)
There was NO BANG-BANG DOUBLE FISTED BATTERY CAPACITY TEST ??? Oops, NO BATTERY INVOLVED 🙆🙆🙆

The test is kinda useless. 1) power usage is drastically affected by the refrigerator's contents' thermal mass. 2) If you use one side as a freezer, the power usage skyrockets. Since this is a dual zone fridge, the test should have been done with one side running as a freezer.
@merendell
25 күн бұрын
contents really only effect the power usage when you are trying to change the temperature of the contents. It takes alot of energy to cool a galon of 70 degree water down to 37 degrees. However if you already have that gallon at 37 degrees the fridge does not need to work as hard to keep it there. At that point its basicly just a test of the insulation of the compartment and how much power the compressor needs to compensate for heat transfer to the outside. More thermal mass will dampen out the swings in temp but you'll still be looking at a similar amount of power consumed to keep the compartment at a given temp, it will just cycle more often without any thermal mass to cool.
@OFFICIALUND
25 күн бұрын
@@merendell 1) It's "affects" and not "effects". 2) You're making a meaningless point. Part of the test of a fridge's power usage *always* includes some aspect of its insulation (otherwise it would never cool). So WTF is your point? A proper test would be to measure how much energy would be used with a fixed mass (or a fixed percentage of a mass) at a given target temperature with that mass already at that temperature.
@HOBOTECH
25 күн бұрын
Test was ran with one side as freezer. I mentioned twice one side was 37 other side 0. I can never make anyone happy with this test as people complain if it's full, half full, or empty. I now do what's more consistent, and that's run empty as it tests the insulation and compressor the most.
I wouldn't want an Aluminum fridge. Aluminum dents and scratches way, way too easily (It's elemental, so don't. tell me that it doesn't). Stainless steel is far better for a fridge application.
