Ice Jam Breaking up
Not for Broadcast, Contact dnphotographypr@gmail.com
Where: 18-mile creek Hamburg, NY
When: 1/11 12pm
So first I had to run for my life from this ice flow at Hobuck Flats. I could not believe how fast and unexpected it came downstream. So I then drove downstream to basswood to capture this flow again, but from a much safe location.
I then drove down to the last bridge before the creek meets lake Erie and waited for the ice again. I also shot a timelapse at this location. Link to that video: www.youtube.com

I was expecting a muskrat, but I think Peter is right, looks more like a beaver to me too. Good spotting, SSArt98!

It's a muskrat. Beavers are often much, much bigger. Wow SSArt98, that was good spotting!
Absolutely amazing footages (and scary too...). Time lapse was incredible. That´s an unbelievable mass of ice flowing all of the sudden. Well done indeed, David. Like!☺ You are there, filming ice jams, and we are here in Buenos Aires hotter than hell, just 40º celsius (104º F). Things of life. Greetings!

frs2112 It was 60 degrees F here in NW Ct. US yesterday, and tonight it will be below zero F and the ice will reform.
I can watch this stuff for hours, thanks
Good Video! You really tried to catch up as much interesting view angles, as possible, in that small time window! Well done!! Next time, maby, you bring more cameras to your next " Eskimo stand off, Ice"? 🤣😂👍👍‼️
Omg!,! This is done soooo well!! The way you had both views was awesome thank you!…
Wow great video!
Great job. Best breakup footage I've seen. Thx
thanx for the film footage......Enjoying it, while sittin here in Thailand, at work, as we get monsoon flooding with all its problems but none of the visual thrill of what you get to see back home. And if people r seasick from the filming, send em here....a minibus ride for just an hour, on our local roads, Thai style, will define what motion sickness really is....Be GLAD to b where u r in the world, it is raw and wonderful.
Thanks having never lived in a country that the rivers freeze I didn't know this was a thing. Cheers from Sydney.
Awesome power of nature and the natural beauty in the scheme of things that occur. Loved watching it go under the bridge, then the just slow down and stop at the end. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome! We never have this problem in the south. Very interesting.
wow, well done & yeah, when it slows & jams to a stop, somewhere downstream is gonna get hammered. hope all was eventually well. awesome to watch & hear.
EXCELLENT!
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you thank you for doing the picture and picture that's pretty cool thank you for sharing
Amazing! Excellent you were able to capture this!!! Be safe out there, things change in nano seconds & water usually wins!
That wind puts shivers down my spine brrrr

I suppose thanks for the video but your placing the upper left overlap on the screen made it non viewable from that point forth. Did an adult review this prior to release?

Why the condescension? Is that an 'adult' thing?
Amazing👍
Is there a way to see the video without that corner blocked out. Disappointing.
Nice video!!!!!!!!!!!

Could you turn the wind noise up a bit, I couldn’t quite hear it.
Mesmerizing
So at 10:45 when the jam happensc& you go back to thee other side of the bridge, far right it eddy swirls in a circle with nowhere to go, I imagine it starts climbing up the banks??? But vid ends??? Now if you had a camera drone... we could see both ways & where it jams.....
What camera did you use?

This wasn't an ice jam it was a controlled release of water from a dam to prevent ice jams

There is no man made dam on this creek. Google map "eighteen mile creek hamburg ny"
I am going to broadcast this. I'd like to see you try and stop me!
Too much visual the same, but interesting as Zen.
How odd this is.
another debacle.
11 minuets was way to long, i jumped ahead to the 9 minute mark for next interesting thing, maybe 5 minutes in the middle could have been edited out
