Robert Van Winkle, better known by his stage name Vanilla Ice, wrote "Ice Ice Baby" in 1983 at the age of 16, basing its lyrics upon his experiences in South Florida. The lyrics describe a shooting and Van Winkle's rhyming skills. Yeah, the riff was taken from Queen. So how did he solve it? He bought the song, bro. And now every time they play Queen/Bowie's song "Under Pressure," Ice gets the royalties. Not too stupid, eh?

@@hoots02 He did get sued but settled the lawsuit by buying the rights to the song. Hefty price tag, but long term he now gets royalties every time that song is played. Smart move, he's now a multi millionaire.
