How thick can the ice get out there and when’s the best time to venture around, mid Feb ? TIA…

Depends on the year and temps really. Usually mid January is a safe bet to have fishable ice in central iowa. Ive seen where it never got thicker than 5-8” in a season all the way up to 3 ft of ice.

6-8” I walked all over the middle/main lake. A couple fresh pressure ridges to watch out for too.

Have you tried lake petoka in bondurant at all

I’ve been out there twice so far this year and haven’t been able to figure it out. Only caught some gills and bass and not enough to make a video out of it

I was targeting flats nearby deep drop offs. There wasnt any structure nearby other than that. I was mainly finding the schools roaming across the bottom of said flats.

Yes you’re able to. Sometimes the brush piles can be good through the night.
