Ice fishing lake trout and whitefish. I took my drone out and ran some new stuff. Great day to be out. Ministry was out checking license and cops checking gear for snowmobilers and ATV's

Just found your channel Seb. Now I'm addicted. LOL! I'm in Colorado so we have two things in common: Ice fishing for lakers and Broncos fans. Well maybe three, I'm a huge fan of Patrick Roy since he won me two Stanley Cups. LOL. Keep up the good work.

For sure! If you ever want to go on an elk hunt out here let me know too. It would be my pleasure to take you. An ice fishing trip to Simcoe is on my bucket list. It will probably be a few years before I can put it together but maybe we can work out a trade. LOL.

Hey sea bass! I love fishing simcoe but I am having some trouble. I’ve caught tons of quality perch and herring but I am having trouble for one specific species. Hear me out, I have caught tons of lake trout through the ice. I’ve always wanted to catch a whitefish. I have never caught a white fish so it would b an accomplishment for me. You seem like the go to guy so I thought I would give you a shout.

Some older rods that are longer
What do you look for on the map or did you scout the lake open water season?

Amazing big fishes and you catch them so easy man. So what brand of ice fishing rod and reel combo do you recommend for lake trout fishing. i am going to buy a medium heavy rod for bigger fish but don't know what brand is good for the rod and reel. Also just wondering doesn't braided line destroy the eyes of the rod over time?
@SeabassOutdoors

Never had an issue with braid. Try finding longer rods. Good quality rods won’t have eyes issues with braid

Seabass Outdoors thanks for the reply, good to know braided line doesn't destroy the rod.
Wow, that's amazing fishing you've had! Thanks for video, enjoyed it a lot. I wonder, why you tie lure directly to the line? Having a snap, especially open type that don't need to be opened/closed every time lure is changed, like Decoy Spiral Snaps, make life easier. I see you use Daiwa reel, what is the model and size?

I prefer tying direct
Dang!
You make it look easy. How long were you on that spot before you foul hooked the trout? With editing it seems like seconds.

I’d say 5-7mins was hard to get in the hole. Water is dirty they don’t see as well +Scott Cunningham

Love the videos you put out on Simcoe. I have always wondered what kind of rods are you using out there? They look like they are in the 40" range? Water on Simcoe has been really cloudy the last few days, at least on the Oro side
I'm thankful I don't have to deal with ice fishing haha

This video got me so pumped up to go fishing!! I just uploaded my first ice fishing video, I would really appreciate it if you could check it out and let me know what you think! Btw I subscribed and I’m hyped on your channel!
I understand why the MNR is out there to see how many fishing catching and everything but I don't understand why the police are out there they have no jurisdiction on the ice it's not land
@SeabassOutdoors

No true. They have jurisdiction on the ice as much as they do on the water. They need to policy drunks, snowmobile equipment and such. For sure a good thing
