    It's interesting to see how fast paced this match is compared to watching matches with Gordon Ryan, where it appears to be more about control and progressive attacks, rather than these young bloods who are high intensity as if they're looking for a surprise submission.

    There is always a difference in pace and style between the higher and lower weight classes. Gordon competes against the big boys at heavy, these guys compete at 154-168. Heavyweight athletes have less range of motion/flexibility, but a lot of isometric strength (and size) so a top-heavy game is often the winning strategy, which requires some patience. The lower weight classes are highly flexible, and fast, and guard retention is so much better, so often the "path" to victory is a mix of top/bottom play & taking more aggressive risks to get a submission. Gordon said himself he could not easily pass Mikey M. His style is suited for beating other big guys like him, get on top, cook them, and break them if you can't get a fast tap. At the lighter classes, float passing and stand passing (instead of tight pressure) seems to be the preferred passing style against the guards of those divisions.

  • @TheDomLouis

    @TheDomLouis

    @@markbowen8461 I don't know how much BJJ experience you have, but IMO Gordon is technically way ahead of everyone is just about every division, regardless of his strength or roid ability. Keep in mind there is such thing as an absolute division. So if there is someone who is more technical than Gordon, he might try muscling, but the person who is technically and startegically superior to him, will beat is pure strength. He will be beaten, but right now I can't see it happening. Maybe the new generation will be the ones to do that.

    Different digital cameras record at different qualities or FPS (frames per second) any time you are looking at a video you are actually looking at still images but they can take so many still images that our brain can’t tell that is what’s really happening. Sometimes when you upload you lose some of that quality and its causes a glitchy look to the video because the quality of the FPS to degrade with the upload due to software or the camera. The glitchy look is the FPS getting slow enough we can actually notice them.
