I would recommend buying more squares to cover the ice....cut holes in a few to surround your holes...it will keep you from having a lake inside your tent in the mornings because of the buddy heater

I’ve been an avid ice fisherman for 30 years in lakes with bass. I’ve never caught one through the ice.

Great video! Definitely want to try an overnighter on the ice sometime. Loved the #2 talk and way to edit in laughter 😂🙌🏼

ha thanks! It has to be discussed I know so many folks are anxious about it before going out but don't talk about it so we felt like we could be the trailblazers that just say what needs to be said lol

Working construction you are a lot of times in house's without plumbing. My first boss had buckets with garbage bags in them and taught us all how to do #2 thing clean and nice for the home owners. If we ever showed up and there was a piss bottle or something in the job he'd call out all the other contractors on it and call them pigs. It's always stuck with me and I have shared it with many campers and people over the years. Better in winter because everything freezes also. Great video I have been ice fishing for 10+ years and never stayed over. Going to give it a try next weekend.

my son and i each have a portable ice shelter he wants to try ice camping so i been looking at the blinds for at least 6 people and use that for a base camp so we can move anywhere on the lake and just sleep in that

thats a solid plan! one thing to think about though is the bigger the shelter the harder it is to stay warm through the night. I think you will be just fine with the 6 people but the giant clam ones might get challenging to regulate temperature.

I go everyday all winter. No fishing at night in my province accept salt water. My transponder reads thru ice so I can find the deep spots without drilling holes.

Is the coleman cot comfortable? It's a fraction of the cost of some others I've seen. Recommending the use of a pad between the cot and the sleeping bag is wise (survivalist), the reason you can't lay on ice directly is death via conduction. Even with 1/2" matting it's a death sentence unless you wake up before you freeze to death. The carbon monoxide alarm is a great idea. I'm in Wisconsin (MN border, Mississippi) and while I'm dropping a bunch of money on a ton of items I am running low on spending cash. I went with a Clam C-360 Thermal as it was the biggest hub I could fit in the back seat of my car, and while the thermal is definitely going to reduce the need for excess propane - all I currently have is a coleman propane stove which has heated the same Eskimo you are in here before last year, but I definitely want to upgrade the heater, generator, and I am missing a crucial item - a fish finder. To be fair I am funding everything for multiple people 100%, it's a lot of poles, jigs, accessories, gear - you name it. Good advice on practice runs. I have my hub set up in my basement (barely cleared the ceiling lol) because I'm sick and want to customize it before I get better and can get back out on the ice. Tip for the 5 gallon toilet - go buy one of those pool noodles from Walmart or whatever and cut a straight line down one side, measure the outside of the bucket and slap it on there so you're not having "a moment" out there.

Enjoyed the video alot. Hope to try it someday. One question, I'm in NH. We can drive on the ice. I would not take a vehicle on the ice,but I do use an atv or snowmobile. Can you use an atv or snowmobile where you are? Seams like a lot of gear. Thanks stay safe and tight lines

An ATV would be super helpful I highly recommend using it. We are out in WA state where there are very few lakes that get more than 5" of ice. The main issue is that almost all our lakes are alpine lakes which means they have running water current and many springs. This makes tons of traps. I have fallen through on 9" ice that had an undercurrent which left 1" of ice on top and 8" of slush underneath in a very small area of the lake I would never have guessed. However, growing up in the midwest it would have been 10x easier to use an ATV.
