This is part 1 of the full journey on IC 2074 from Berlin to Westerland (Sylt).
Starting from Berlin, the Intercity first takes the 230 km/h fast railway to Hamburg and reaches it´s maximum speed of 200 km/h. After transiting Hamburg, the train leaves the city in the northern direction. In Elmshorn there is the origination of the "Marschbahn", which is the railway to Sylt island. Itzehoe marks the end of Part 1, where also a change of locomotives takes place. Because Itzehoe is the last station with catenary, the electric Class 101 locomotive has to be replaced by a diesel Class 218 locomotive. The remaining larger part of the Marschbahn is shown in Part 2.
