Ibanez K5 5 String Bass Overview/Demo

Музыка

In this video, I do a quick rundown of the 2018 Ibanez K5 Signature Bass designed by Reginald Fieldy Arvizu, and briefly explain why this is one of the most versatile basses I've come across. Everything heard is direct from the bass, with no processing except for some mild compression for the intro backing track. This was recorded through my Focusrite 2i2 into my Macbook Pro running Logic Pro X.
The backing track is the drum section of Freak on a Leash by Korn, with me playing bass over it.
If you want a more detailed overview, let me know in the comments. Perhaps I can do a shootout between this bass and my SR305

    I've got this bass guitar twice (2009 k5 and k5 in white). It's easily the most comfortable bass guitar I've possibly played. Light and really strong and reliable with fantastic a fantastic sound

    I used to have the OG K5 years ago but the headstock broke off due to an unfortunate incident. I absolutely loved it with the midrange features. Kinda funny considering Fieldy doesnt even use mids.

    i own two of the k5 basses and for the price I'm honestly surprised their not more expensive. both my k5LTDFGM and standard K5 play absolutely amazing. now i have heard since the body material change to Nyatoh the k5 doesn't play as well as it did when ibanez was making the body out of Mahogany. i cannot confirm this to be true. but what i do know is when you find the mid 2000s k5 absolutely pick on up as they sell fast and are still in very much demand. great video though

    The big secret to the Ibanez stable is that pretty much every bass they make since 2015 uses the same EQ. It's the 3EMP3LD which started appearing in Ibanez basses in 2014 Your SR305 (from 2014 onwards ) and the K5 (from 2018 onwards ) both use the same board, so if you want, you can plug the variable mids switch into your SR305 for minimal dollars. You just have to order one. The variable mids sweep switch is the 3EMMV84-C

    I checked on the inside of my K5 and my SR305 and the Preamps are completely different. My K5 has 18 terminals while my SR305 has 14. The 305's eq is labeled 3EQ2SC0003-2S-01 if that helps. The K5 had no label

    @@mobbinator Your SR305 is pre 2014 then. The new ones use the 3EMP3LD. Search for it on the cs.hoshinogakki.co.jp/ parts webpage and then click the "Used In" link... you'll find every current model in the Ibanez catalog and the year it was introduced. It's a very versatile board and much cheaper than many aftermarket solutions.

    The ADXs might look like humbuckers, but they're actually *split coil* like a precision bass pickup, in the casing of a humbucker. I had one, the pickups are made by Mighty Mite.

    I'm looking to learn the bass, Ive been tossing up the idea of getting this one just because of how awesome it is, then I've always been looking at other ibanez because of the price points. What is a good recommendation for someone who is new and wants to learn fieldy type bass lines.

    Fnu Lnu you can get an Ibanez SR500E for $649.99 which is basically the same thing but a different color and the headstock is the other way around. It a little more on the pricey side but this one will get you where you need to. If you need a good amp that sounds amazing especially with the Ibanez bass is the fender rumble 200 1x15 it’s big loud and sounds awesome and they retail for about $499.99. Now they are cheaper amps like the rumble 25,40 and 100 they are all great but the best one I would recommend is the 200 to me. You can get the rumble 500 or 800 if you wanna be fancy but the rumble 400 is perfect for practicing and playing live in case if you get to that point.

    I would say make sure you get a decent mid range bass with a 3 band active EQ (having bass, mid, and treble boost/cut controls). A bass cab with a tweeter will really help to bring out the brilliance of slap parts too. And I'd say shop used so you can save a lot and get more bang for your buck like I did 😁

    Highly recommend picking up a used ibanez 5 string. almost any entry level one would be fantastic. Do not pay more than $350 CAN for bass just starting. Check your local kijiji there is always nice mid range instruments($1100-$1800) for like $300 sometimes. For any amp get anything that makes noise. Get something for $40 would be good.Trust me, you do not need anything good at all to start out. This is my two cents as some guy who has been playing for 15 years.

    Would you say this is a versatile bass guitar? For different genres? Have you ever heard the song "teenage love" by slick rick and "do u wanna get high" by x raided, would it give me those sounds? Along with deep sounds?

  • @mobbinator

    @mobbinator

    I would say it is because the midrange sweep knob let's you choose the sound of the bass. The ADX5 pickups, while a bit hot, are really responsive to how hard and soft you play. With some onboard EQ tweaking, you can play anything in my opinion

  • @mobbinator

    @mobbinator

    2 жыл бұрын

    I just listened to Teenage Love and from my experience I would probably play with both pickups on, treble all the way down, bass in the middle or maybe slightly boosted, and keep the mid frequency relatively low but not all the way down if you're going to boost it. You can try pushing the frequency all the way up and cutting as well. Lovely song btw! Hope this was helpful
