Big thanks for this upload. Without question the most mind-blowing 3 hours I've ever spent on KZread. I am now convinced Xenakis was sent to earth by an interdimensional race of advanced beings.

Even though Xenakis gets to be called the "mathematical" composer because of theory application and the use of computation and stochastic synthesis, there isn't a piece by him that I don't find to be some of the most violently emotionally moving music I've heard

Truth.

Xenakis forever. Xenakis gets more and more relevant as time goes on, one of the best composers, period. In the lineage of Varese > Messiaen, somewhat as both Stockhausen and Boulez where but an entirely different universe than the aforementioned (though Xenakis' music often shows allusion to Messiaen, Bartok, Varese and Stravinsky). Xenakis' music is profoundly Greek (think the Greek epics, and philosophers like Plato and Aristotle) with the modern existential strength of Nietzsche and even Lovecraft. Xenakis is up there with Stravinsky, Bartok, Beethoven, Brahms, Bach, Dufay, Machaut, etc Long live Xenakis. P.s. This compilation of Xenakis' works is a very evocative primer for newcomers, I think it should be obligatory to know all of these pieces (though there are masterpieces of Xenakis missing from it, after all it's only 3 hours)

To me it sounds very difficult to play.

Other people look at the universe and think they're "home". I hear these sounds, so cold and painful and alone.
