Ian's 303 whp 2ZZ swapped turbo MR2 Spyder!:
Today we take a look at Ian Johnson's 2ZZGE swapped and turbo-ed MR2 Spyder making a whopping 303 whp in a 2100lb car!
He has future plans to build the motor to make upwards of 400 whp.

    One of the things to keep in mind with going to a wider tire, it doesn't necessarily made your contact patch bigger, as much as it changes the shape of it. You need to increase the tire diameter and width to get an overall larger contact patch.

    What exhaust system is that? Sounds amazing. I have a feeling I won't be able to create one like that for UK legalities but I'd love to know ? Cheers

    Its basically a straight pipe out of turbo in this video. I built a custom exhaust cutout setup later on. You can see all of it on my instagram @auto_loofah

    Wow thats brisk. Having kinda of the same issue. If i go full bananas from 1st to 2nd i cant get into 2nd. I can rev it to like 5k and shift fine, only if i get high into lift zone that i get the issue. Not too worried as i dont do standing pulls

    Let me know if you can figure out how to get the EMS4 to warm start properly. For me the startup timer jumps to 32 seconds so my warm start stuff is completely skipped.

    Surprisingly only suspension on this car at this point was full BattleVersion arms, new bushings all around, and oem struts/shocks.

    Let me know how you fix the overboost or creeping boost.. what kit you got.. i have tkc and boosting like 13.5 psi dont know what to do to fix the boost issues

    Hey, yea the boost creep issue was i believe a mix of things including turbo manifold design, wastegate, and or turbo exhaust side. It randomly got 10 times worse and instead of fixing it i happened to have already made plans to build an engine and upgrade everything. So now im putting in a built k20a2 with a gtx3076 gen 2 turbo and plans for making 400low 600+high whp 😇

    It was AEM EMS4. Im swapping to Hondata now with the new build

    Sound wise yeah, but these cars weigh 2,000lbs.. 300+ hp is more than enough to whoop a v8
