Ian Powrie was a well known Scottish Country Dance Band leader... who came from Auchterarder in perth....he wrote the tune when he decided to emigrate to Australia in the 1960's....

Ian Powrie’s Farewell To Auchterarder is the name of the dance. The original tune (the first tune) is called West Kirkton, written by John MacGregor.
