"and if the sun should shine I close my blinds, pretend there's rain instead" I like that line the best.

Reminds me of the line from the Karine Polwart song "The Sun's Coming Over The Hill", which goes "I sometimes find joy in the sound of the rain / you have to find joy where you can".

Or the temptations.
I hope this dude's happier than the music he writes, because goddamn does he make some amazing stuff. This song in particular is my go to for those days I wake up feeling dead, much better vice than the drink and drugs ever were
“You see her trembling hand was to understand some things you can’t disguise”.......amazing.

@@CrummyVCR After a person drinks a lot of alcohol and then sobers up, the acute withdrawal can make their hands shake. Meaning Irene can laugh and play off her drinking problems, but her shaking hands can't be ignored.

If you ever get a chance to see Ian Noe live do it! You won't regret it what a talented singer songwriter!
He opened for Colter Wall in Seattle a couple years ago. I’d never heard of him when I walked in and I was a fan by the time he was about 1 minute into his first song
The studio version of this song is fantastic, but man Ian kills it live.
Ian Noe is a treasure, saw him last summer at the Railbird Festival in Kentucky, even the 45 minute set he played blew us away. Hope he gets huge and makes a lot more records. Go Ian!
This dude is fantastic!!!! I couldn't imagine him and Willie Watson on stage doing a song together someday. Their vocals together would be something phenomenal
Tyler Childers , sturgill Simpson and now Ian noe Kentucky is really putting out some good country artists

@@calebmelton5989I would say Sturgill number 1 Ian Noe number 2 Tyler Childers number 3 only putting Sturgill number 1 cus he's not just country that's definitely his roots but the man can fuse his country music with any genre from rock to bluegrass folk soul and funk. Now that's a perfect music lovers tongue palet
Just heard this for the first time yesterday and I’m obsessed. ❤❤❤❤ Amazing lyrics!!!
"that she comes up-on" Love that line So happy this fellow is out there!
The nine people that didn’t like this song never had a real thanksgiving lol 🤷♂️

Anthony Lester, there Were 9 that didn’t like this song…. Huh, I looked and didn’t see any dislikes but 557 likes. Yeah, I agree they NEVER had a real thanksgiving lmao.
This dude is a legend.
One of the last or maybe the last to open for the great John Prine and I can see why Mr. Prine took him out on tour with him. I hear a lot of Prine in Ian's lyrics ❤
So digging this guy right now. One of my favorite albums of the year. Thanks!
This man is the real deal!
Just stumbled onto Mr Ian. Well damn!
Best thing ive heard in a while.
“She said ill guess I’ll have to use a can” lmao nice
Absolutely perfect!
Huge talent
Love It. Thanks MCM!
I'm over here patiently waiting on Ian to drop some more music..
I already loved the versions available on Spotify, but the bass and drums on this version really give it weight, in my opinion. It's my favorite so far.

For sure
Someone needs to stage an intervention for that uncle who was drinking coffee with his thanksgiving dinner.
the proof this song is so great is I am going out to look for a gal named Irene!
Thats funny. I had a waitress fill my coffee cup clear full of pancake syrup.
cousin irene sounds like she lived best she could, noe knows too
Sad song
Sur les traces d'un autre grand, Arlo Guthrie... auquel il ne doit rien envier !
I thought the song was about drugs.
"With story" 😂😂😂
